So I recently (last week) finished my play through of Mass Effect 2. Let me first say it was an amazing game and one of the best I have ever played. However, I realized that I've only ever played as a Soldier; in both the first game and second game. I have also always played as a Paragon making all the "nice" choices. I really want to play through the game and shake things up a bit, but I have a few questions/concerns first.

I have read through a few threads and noticed that many people seem to favor the Vanguard. Being used to having a Soldier with a vast array of guns to choose from, would switching to a Vanguard and getting used to the play style be all that difficult for me? I will most likely be playing on a Normal difficulty if that changes anything.

Second of all, can I reload my imported save again getting the chance to tweak my appearance and class while still maintaining my choices from the first game (No offense, but I don't want to play through the first game again.) or was that just a "one time" thing? I don't see why it would be but you never know.

Third of all, would choosing the mainly Renegade path as opposed to the Paragon path impede my ability to gain the loyalty of my squad...or would they just go along with it? Dumb question I know, but I have always found myself playing the good guy (except in KOTOR 1; so fun to be the bad guy in that game)

Lastly, a real off-topic question that you might be able to just link me an answer to. Is there a set team that is guranteed not to die in the final level of the game? I lost Mordin and Legion in my last play through and I was horrified.

Thank you in advance. ;)

Renegade is just as viable. Thankfully, there are no benefits attached with maxing out your paragon or renegade and you only need to build one. The only difference you'll notice is that as paragon your scarring cures whereas if you pursue a renegade path, worsens.

You can re-import your ME1 character and gain most of the bonuses, but to preserve them all, you'll need to import your ME2 save which won't allow you to change your class. I also wouldn't really recommend vanguard, but I encourage you to try it (I went soldier for my first two playthroughs and I think adept and infiltrator are better choices than soldier or vanguard).

And consult this article for help keeping your squad alive:

This thread offers a TON of information and videos of vanguard play that can help you on your way through your first vanguard playthrough.

In regards to your ME 1 information, you can go ahead an re-import the same save and make any cosmetic changes you which while maintaining all of your choices and bonuses. I've used the same ME 1 save 3 or 4 times already, the only real problem with it is that all of your shepards will have the same name.

For PC version, you can change the name with the save editor if that bothers you. Or if you don't feel like replay ME1 to get all the renegade choices and another name in the first game, you can download other people's save game if you are using PC version.

The game honestly seems shorter and graphics/cinematics seem less especially for a 2 disc sequel. I am going to play again as well but believe the ball got dropped in several areas as I discussed in other forums so I won't repeat that here.
