The damage incinerate does on frozen target is no different than any other attack of frozen targets. In other words, targets effected by Cryo Blast become more vulnerable to damage, allowing you to kill them off quicker as a result. I thought that Incinerate received a damage boost on top of it, which it does not. The only thing Incinerate provides while the target is frozen is a good burst, increasing the chance that you could kill the target before Cryo Blast wears off. In addition, I've noticed that the DoT effect of Incinerate potentially kills the frozen target premature.

In relation to the other abilities, as stated, ALL attacks are given a boost against frozen targets, oppose to Incinerate receiving a bigger boost.

Only melee and guns are boosted on frozen targets. Power damage isn't affected. This includes ammo powers, which is treated as power damage as far as the game is concerned.

And this has been proven? I couldn't find anything specific in relation to guns only. As far as I am concerned, my resources noted that frozen targets are more vulnerable to damage, never specifying power damage or gun damage.

My previous video already showed you that Incinerate does the exact same damage against an unfrozen target as it did a frozen target.

If you would like, I can make a vid showing how a normal bullet against a non-frozen Krogan followed by a Tungsten round against the same Krogan while frozen, will do the same damage as a normal bullet against a frozen Krogan followed by a Tungsten round against the same non-frozen Krogan.

Sorry for derailing the thread, but does that mean cryo attacks are best followed up with high burst damage weapons (hand cannon/sniper/shotgun) or high dps weapons (smg/assault rifle)?

Theyre best followed up with high dps weapons. That is because it takes 1-2 seconds for the target to become frozen after impact(add another ~1 second of travel time beforehand).

Don't let the graphics fool you. They will have frost over their body before they're actually frozen. They will still shatter if you can kill them before they're frozen.

Thank you for that bit of information. I am unfamiliar when it comes to stats and I hardly pay attention to their health close enough to note a difference. I recalled discussions Thisisme8 and AverageGatsby had in the past retaining to Incinerate / Cryo leading to more damage so I assumed it is implied to all powers. Forgive me if I misled you guys.

This guide is excellent, great stuff!

I have to say that I've played every class on Insanity & the CC Engineer is by far the least stressful. Basically, it changes the game from a TPS to a RTS. You simply have to establish a safe perimeter, use your drone, use AI Hacking/Dominate & watch the enemy destroy itself while you eat a sandwich, drink a coke, etc.... So much more relaxing than having to worry about shooting, etc.... Works for everyone: mechs, mercenaries, Collectors. Even Praetorian, which is the least distracted by drones, still can be very-slightly distracted sometimes & even just a little helps with those monsters (which I think are the toughest guys in the game).

Basically with a CC Engineer build, you can control the battlefield once you get 1 enemy to only health. At the max cooldown, you can have 2 enemies working for you at all times. Once they are the last ones left, you simply let them kill each other by controlling only 1. Once it's the last guy left, it's game over for him as he's served his purpose. Truly a completely unique way to play ME2!

Anyhow I tended to use Zaeed/Miranda mostly. Here's my final build for my CC Engineer:

Overload: 3

Incinerate: 3

Drone: 10 (Attack Drone, 40 pts base against everything + X% per 3 seconds, so in 3 seconds it's done 80 points [initial zap + 3 seconds later], even on Insanity it usually lasts for 3 seconds minimum against even heavy mechs, etc.... I tried explosive drone but it worked better w/Demolisher build. Think of the Attack Drone as another functioning party member & the Demolisher build as a bomb/remote grenade. Both are good, just depends upon build.)

Cyro Blast: 3

Improved AI Hacking: 10 (Area effects in this game are mostly crap except if it's >=5 meters like Singularity, Warp Explosion. The extra time however especially w/bonuses, allows you to have 2 AI allies constantly once you get their defenses down & they will last a long time due to 500 shield)

Mechanic: 10 The extra duration is exactly what you want for CC abilities (drone, hacking,

dominate)

Enhanced Dominate: 10 (same comments: more duration is more reliably helpful, can always have 2 organics working for me)

Anyhow, this build is definitely a completely different experience from all the running around/shooting/adrenaline pumping videos you see around. Completely different & mostly stress-free. I did die a few times when I was trying to figure out how to establish a safe perimeter in various battles but once you figure that out, it's literally a cake-walk in most fights. The Praetorian on Horizon wasn't too bad, I died once. Got my squad positioned right along with myself & then just patiently worked it down while my squad kept firing away & stayed alive. I can go through most levels never firing a shot basically & just enjoy the show (although shooting does speed things up)! :)

Anyhow I highly recommend trying the Engineer out w/Dominate for something completely different. You can literally get 2 additional squad members in every massive fight which makes a HUGE difference in stress. With the drone, that's essentially 6 team members total (including Shepard). No other class offers that opportunity & game experience.

thanks & best regards,

Wow, SO it's been two years since anyone has posted anything....but I just came upon this thread finally and just wanted to say thank you for a great guide for one of my favorite classes! I noticed you had a "blog Posted"... where can I find this? Again thank you haha
