Is there any specific way to beat this damn bug?!

It regens its shields soooo fast!

I'm a max lvl Soldier class with the Burst Fire Rifle and the Widow Sniper, warp ammo as my special ability, Thane and Grunt as my team...

I've tried like 50 times but I can't seem to get his life down past half before I run out of med-kits and die!!!

It regens shields when it does that downward thrust thing, which he'll always do if someone is near him (though that doesn't mean he won't do it with no one around him either). So probably your best bet is to make sure everyone is always at distance from it

Take out the husks and collectors as fast as possible. Then tell Thane and Grunt to take cover facing the ramp (sometimes you don't even need to do this. I can kill it by myself). Then sprint up the ramp and take shots at it as it approaches. It'll follow you around the platform and all you have to do is keep ahead of it so that you can throw powers at it or shoot and but still be able to duck quickly. Once you reach the bottom of one ramp, sprint on the inside to get to the other. Then keep shooting and throwing powers while in cover/obscured by obstacles. Spam Thane's Warp and Grunt's Conc Shot.

I haven't played as a Soldier, but I've done this with Sentinel, Vanguard, and Adept, all on Insanity and never using HWs. Once you get the hang of it, it's too damn easy.

I also had a lot of difficulty with this part. As previously mentioned kill the collectors/husks first, and keep moving. Note the delay between the laser shots. Take your time, and use powers like warp freely and often. Myself, I lead the thing back and forth across the cavern multiple times before I could get it.

Its not that hard, you just have to time your shots well, once the barrier is done hit it with your heavy weapons. It'll take a while, but you'll get it eventually. :)

Perhaps you aren't giving it as wide a berth as you could? You should only be seeing a fraction of it, most of the time. Just a small enough bit so you can shoot it.

i always take cover right at the entrance of the room, there is a corner of cover that faces the incoming praetorian. from here you should be able to get him to at least half health by the time he is so close that you have to move. spam unity, use grunt's heavy concussion to reduce barrier, warp ammo should be really helping.

use a heavy weapon whenever you have enough time to get a shot off, which is probably going to be earlier in the fight than later.

The way I beat it was:

Focus on killing the other enemies first. Be sure to direct your squad mates. Tell them to stand as far from the Praetorian as possible. Then just kite it from one end of the room to the other. Be sure to not trap yourself in a corner. Just keep firing away at it until is gets near you (but not too near). Once it is within 20 feet of you, turn on ARush and sprint right underneath it and continue to the other side of the room. Fire at it until it gets near you again. Repeat.

The key to this battle is patience, remember that there is no time limit and that It is easy to manipulate the Praetorian. Using Adrenaline Rush to escape is crucial.

The trick is swapping guns and letting your squad kick the crap out of it.  You "MUST" switch to rapid fire weapons when the barrier comes up and you MUST switch to slow fire weapons when it comes down.  Your squad will do more damage than you will.  Also if you are using a soldier on insanity it is silly to use another soldier and an infiltrator.  You should have tech and biotics with you or at the very least one or the other.  Thane is an infiltrator but he has warp which is useful to you against collectors but grunt is the single most useless character against the collectors.  You should have Mordin or Miranda with you.  Preferabley both since you are a soldier.

Mordin can drop a massive chunk off that thing's armor with heavy incinerate and miranda can do the same to it's barriers with warp.  They both have perfect weapons for that particular fight too.

Swap weapons, keep your squad out in the open but away from the Praetorian's path, and learn to use a balanced squad.

First... take your time. Use your heavy weapon here.

I would take cover at the top of the ramp area and use the heavy weapon on it. It fires its beam in short bursts, stay behind cover until it's clear to shoot. As it comes closer to you, it will try to go up the ramp from your left side. Repeat the above until it's almost on you.

Then move to the opposite side of the ramp and take cover. Repeat cover/heavy weapon fire between its bursts. Keep your distance away from it so that when it regens, you don't get caught in the area damage blast it shoots off. Once it makes its way to the top of the ramp where you were originally.

Run out of cover to the area below and take cover behind one of the walls. Repeat cover/fire routine as it comes down the ramp this time. Then continue your counterclockwise circle to the other side of the ramp when it gets too close. Keep going in circles and you can eventually plink it off quite easily. It's very predictable. Your squad will be able to take care of any husks/drones at the start so focus on the Praetorian yourself.

just run in circles around the thing you first walk up to. thers a little slope on each side. make it chase you and blast it with all your weapons. the only thing you need to worry about are the couple of collectors that come out a bit after that big thing starts blasting you. just snipe those guys and worry about keeping distance from the preatorian.

side strafe around that mother ****er.

If this is the same area I'm thinking of (no guarantees), there is a tall column on the left side of the room. Kill the husks/collectors as fast as possible, and then run to the column. If you can keep the column between the praetorian and yourself, you should be able to kill it easily.

The hardest part I found was killing the fodder without dying from the praetorian.

You don't need Heavy weapons to kill anything in this game. Ever. No matter what class you use. Heavy weapons are a gimick and just there for giggles.

Follow my instructions and you will never have a problem with this fight again.

I just killed all the other guys first, and lured the Praetorian over to the ramp. Then i had my squad mates hang out at the middle of the room, so the thing ignored them, and basically circled around/on the ramp structure. This is a battle of attrition. OR, bring the CAIN.

I find after I kill the guys I just lead him around in a big circle. which includes the ramp, the two pillars, the random chest high walls near the ramp, then back up the ramp from the wall side. This same strategy works well for the one on horizon too which I learned from one of gatsby's vids. I've also read (.. i think, dont quote me on this) that the collector beam also works wonders on them once the barrier is down :)

Well if you have the widow it should be pretty easy... Don't worry if your squadmates die, just keep circling around the room, making sure it follows you to the ramp and around so it can't get too close to you. When it's down to its armor, just widow it as many times as you can before it puts the barrier up again. The only problem might be running low on AR ammo; i don't know if there are any respawning heat sinks in there..

With a Vanguard I actually didn't want to kill other enemies because charge was so damn useful when that thing is almost at your side.

As a Soldier, though, the typical stuff. When you start that part of the mission you are in the best place to hide from the praetorian, because its like a giant square, leveled, with a lot of safety-cover.

Keep trying, its not that difficult if you change your weapons accordingly and spam adrenaline rush.

Eh? Praetorians are easy, they just take forever.
1. They require line of sight to hit you
2. They regenerate shields at 75,50,25%
3. They drop down attack and regenerate shields when people are too close to them.

They are otherwise big slow hp bags with easily avoidable attacks

Kill the two husks, then stay in cover untill the 2 collectors come. Kill them, then just whittle it down over time.....it's pretty hard to fail(How the hell did you manage to kill the scions during the platform ambush if this guy is giving you trouble)

I had Thane and Miranda on my team.  I had Heavy Warp as a Sentinel.  I made sure I always had my tech armor on.

Have Thane use his Sniper and have Miranda use the Heavy Pistol.  I would have them use Heavy Warp whenever possible and so would I.  I'd take care of the husks first while manuevering around that ramp by the entrance to avoid the Praetorian.  Then, deal with the collectors while sicing your teammates to the Praetorian.  At this time, I made a run to the other side.  When I got there and the praetorian was halfway there, I used Unity.  Then, as it slowly made it's way over to me, all three of us would heavy warp it and shoot it.  When it finally got to me, I sicced my teammates to it against, this time bringing them to my side and I went over to where the teammates were (at the entrance).  Then, do the same as you did before and it should fall before it gets over to you.

Well I'd thought I'd contribute to the thread on behalf of infiltrator players.

I found it relatively easy by bringing Grunt and Thane as well as the cain. The first fight with all the collectors seemed ridiculously easy.
Slightly weaken the scion but focus on the collectors and just sit
behind cover on the original platform. The first thing you do is kill the grundleberries that run in. I used a combination of Incindary squad ammo, Incindary rocket or whatever it is, heavy warp and concussive shot. Use concussive shot after knocking out the armor of the husks for an instant kill and just lay 2 headshots on each collector from afar to bring them down. After the small guys are dealt with send your teamates to the other side of the room behind that cover if you can. Stay on the ramp and keep the widow out but control shots and just strafe in cover. Use warp and concussive shot on shields and if you have reave carefully use it but make sure the pratorian never makes it to the upper level of the ramp, always use camo to make him go back down the ramp to attack you party. I didnt really the cain but i got bored after whittling it down to 1/4 health. I hate bringing along such a fun weapon and not using it. FYI, the cain will knock it down to half armor if you should it full health and w/o barrier. for collectors in general just hit each one once with reave, or warp to knock out barriers then widow them in the face, guardians and assassins may need one more application. The scion after the praetorian SHOULD BE IGNORED until all the collectors have been dealt with. I kept Grunt next to me by the cover at the top of the first ramp and sent thane up to the cover on the ramp on the far right side. Just pop around the corner and warp/reave the scion until its dead. The swarm of husks is frightening at first but let grunt go foritification and make thane go machine gun (maybe viper if he has it). Go machine gun as well so you can knock out husks that are too close. Once they start coming in pairs try to advance (if you retreated which i recommend) somewhat quickly. The first fight with all the collectors seemed ridiculously easy. Slightly weaken the scion but focus on the collectors and just sit behind cover on the original platform

I just used a kind of mash-up of the above thoughts to get thru the Praetorian. I brought Thane and Samara (restarting the mission to dump Miranda and Garrus), both without their loyalty skills, and swapped the missile launcher for the Cain.

I placed all three of us under cover at the top of the ramp and fired the Cain immediately, it going off about the time the Praetorian gets near the door with the first husks appearing. The Cain seemed to do about three cycles worth of damage.

Next I moved to the right, slightly down the ramp and forced the Praetorian to come across the bottom of that area. Once he was committed I moved under cover down the left side and contined out to the post that is away from the ramps. At this point I sent my squad to cover at the furthest point toward where the Praetorian entered and I kited him about two times up and down the ramp. The squad dealt with newcomers and did damage as they could and it went pretty well, certainly better than with Miranda and Garrus.

I remember doing this as an engineer. This guy was a punk ... this was also before I discovered the ultimate power of the Cain in which I could simply ROFL-Stomp him with it.

But in case you don't have ammo for a well-placed Cain blast, I'd recommend using powers from squad members that can widdle down biotic barriers and armor, such as Miranda's Warp. Warp Ammo works, too! Try to keep your distance from it and don't get yourself cornered. If you're an engineer, avoid using your Drone since almost always, the Praetorian can use its AoE blast to kill the drone and generate a barrier. With that said, if you have Tali or Legion in your group, command them to use a different power on every cooldown, or they might burn their cooldown on summoning a drone.
