well i finally found the code if you will to beat the suicide mission against the collectors withoufhr anyone dying.

first step is make sure all the characters are loyal

the shepard build i used was a vanguard with legions geth shield boost as the advanced training option. stick with incindary ammo on this one and use the smg against harbinger and any other armor based enemy
for your personal guard use mordin trained with heavy incinerate he can pretty much oneshot the harbinger possessed collectors once you drop the barrier. the second character you want to take with you is legion he is very durable and his custom sniper rifle allows him to take out husks and normal collectors easily
on that same subject you want either the cryo blaster or the flamer as your heavy weapon although they dont help much against the final boss they will keep you from getting overrun by husks.

now for the team assignments

at the landing  use tali as the tech specilist and garrus as the fireteam leader

at the second stage use garrus again as the fire team samara as the biotic specilist. and zaeed escourts the rescued crew back to the ship. if you havent downloaded the dlc that contains zaeed i am guessing you can probibly use jacob or maranda but i havent tested this yet.

This has been discussed before and your "code" is incomplete. For example, I used Legion as tech specialist, Miranda as Fireteam Leader. Then Miranda again as Fireteam leader, and Jack as specialist.

Have the ship upgraded ( Shields, Weapons, Armor are the only ones you need )

All squadies loyal

Leave as soon as you activate the IFF and your crew is lost, ( I think you can wait and do two missions, but dont take the chance make sure you have everything before the IFF activation )

Tali or Legion in the vents, and Miranda or Garrus as fireteam leader.

Miranda or Garrus as fire team again and Samara or Jack for barrier.

And you should be golden.

You guys are terrible. His intentions are good and his strategy is definitely sound. Plus, it looks like he figured it out himself, which is more than most can say judging by all the help threads regarding team assignments that plagued the forums in the first couple of weeks.

Kudos Mikeloeven. Especially in figuring out the Avalanche vs. Husks. It really does work like a charm

Leaders: Jacob, Miranda, Garrus
Tech: Legion, Tali, (I would think Mordin as well)
Biotic Field: Jack, Mornith, Samara

You will want your biggest people to hold the line for you, so Grunt defintely stays back.

Thane, Tali and Mordin have the lowest survival scores, so you may want to send one of them to escort your crew (or the colonists) to safety.

If you follow these instructions and upgraded the ships parts (armor, guns, and barriers from jacob, garrus and tali respectively) you should have most people survive, even without loyalty missions.

well, it's hard to say even you finish all loyalty mission for crews. they still die for some reasons which I have no idea. thing was happened when I played as soldier class. I got all loyalty from crews by helping their mission. in the end, I left 4 died.

"The code". Gave me a good chuckle.

The "code" is fairly easy. Make sure that everyone is loyal and don't make retarded decisions. Send a tech expert to do the tech stuff. Make a leader leader of the fire team. Take a good biotic as your biotic expert.

It's really not more complicated than that.

I think there is a glitch, i have completed all loyalty quest. On the first run, my tali died, Zeead got thru, morith as my biotic shield got me thru but garrus died. Jacob got the rest of my crew back. Defeated that ugly thing in the end, all but tali and garrus did not make it.

Restarted the level again, with the same selection, all survived this time round. So what gives?

Did you complete any of the segments faster when you restarted the level ?

I then assume that its possible to save all the crew as opposed to half? I do like the Normandy better when its less crowded, but I'd prefer if everyone stayed alive.

Yes, you can save the entire crew if you go through the Omega 4 relay, immediately after the Collector attack on the Normandy.

did all the loyalty missions, had everything upgraded that i could, took the warp ammo bonus for my soldier with the revenant mg and i was fine

I used miranda as my teamleader for both occasions, Tali as tech (didn't use mordin since he is a biologist), Jacob as escort, samara as biotic and mordin and miranda as teammaes for the final battle. Between the reaper IFF and Legion's loyalty mission I made sure I had all the upgrades. After the attack on the normandy I went straight to the Omega 4 relay. I also made sure that all the classtalents were maxed for every character (not the loyalty one's), don't know if that helps. I used this combo twice and saved everyone both times (one of which was on insanity).

For the final holding the line part, if you take Grunt with you to the final fight, or sent him back with the crew, Mordin is pretty much screwed, so I always send him back with the rescued crew.

actually speed is one of the key factors i found out as well the first few times i went through i was dungion crawling looking for every little tiny cache of resources.   i found later on if you rush through the level and just storm everything youll have a better chance of everyone surviving

There is no "glitch" that causes someone to die in the Hold The Line part.

Seneva wrote...

I know we have several of these threads already but they are all over the place. Figured it weould be nice to have all the info in 1 thread.

To make sure your team-members survive follow these simple steps.

Upgrading Normandy

You can get these upgrades via the "investigate ---> Normandy Upgrades" from the dialogue wheel

Get the weapon upgrade FROM Garrus

Get the armour upgrade from Jacob

Get the shield upgrade for Tali

This will ensure that atleast 3 members will survive the flight through the Omega 4 Relay and the fight and flight through the debris field towards the Collector Homebase.

Teammembers

Do every loyalty mission and either use the Paragon / Renengade option to settle the peace without losing someone's loyalty. Non-loyal teammembers CAN survive the the suicide mission if they are NOT tasked with an important specialist job.

Tech specialists:

Tali and Legion are the only teach specialists. Really, no other member can surpass their tech skills.

Fire Squardleaders

Garrus - C-sec officer, merc leader (was betrayed but no mention of crap leadership)

Miranda - Lazarus Project Director. She answers only to TIM

Jacob - Former Corsair / Alliance soldier. Head of security at the Lazarus Project and only answers to Miranda (and now to Shepard:))

Note that these 3 are also LI's ;)

Use anyone else as a squadleader and someone WILL die.

Biotic Specialists

The only true biotic specialists in the game are:

Morith

Samara

Jack

Samara and Jack really dont need any explanation.

Morith is only available if you side with her while doing Samara's loyatly mission and kill Samara.

Mordin or XXX dies for no apperant reason

We've seen these threads pop-up quite often. They didnt die for no reason. One of the devs made a post about it.

Dusty Everman wrote...

Mordin's death is not a glitch or bug. I believe that when people are surprised with Mordin's death, it's during the "Hold the Line" time where you leave crew behind as you and two squad mates move onward. Tech had their moment in the sun with the tunnel infiltration. A biotic is key for the protective bubble. The Hold the Line sequence is time for your soldier types to do their best.

Basically you want your best DEFENDERS to hold the line. Don't think about offensive solo strikers. Think about the guys that can dig down and hold a position with moxie. You want them to hold the line.

Under the hood, each character has a "hole the line" score, which gets a bonus if the character is loyal. Characters like Mordin, Jack and Tali are squishy and not exoeruenced with bunkering down and holding out for an extended period of time. Characters like Grunt and Zaeed are tanks who thrive on this type of work. The score is tallied for all the team members that are holding the line, and the number of survivors are calculated. If people are to die, the non-loyals squishies go first through the list to the loyal tanks. Alas, I think Mordin is at the head of the death list. Some characters can't survive without help even if they are loyal. Others can survive even if not loyal.

Here are some examples for the group holding the line:

Loyal Mordin by himself: He can't hold the line by himself. He dies.

Non-loyal Grunt by himself: Grunt lives. He hunkers down and gets the job done, and doesn't have to worry about helping any one else.

Loyal Mordin and non-Loyal Grunt: Grunt dies, but Mordin lives. Grunt is able to hold the line but goofs up helping Mordin... he was just too aggressive without his right of passage.

Loyal Mordin and Loyal Grunt: They both live.

Note it is possible to get non-loyal henchmen to survive through the end game with the proper group holding the line.

So what is a good strategy? Send back a loyal squishy with the crew, like Mordin or Tali. Leave your defensive bad asses to hold the line (hmmm, Garrus defended a base all by himself to an extended period of time....) and take your loyal offensive favorites with you to the end.

As for saving Kelly and the crew, you just need to make sure you go through the Omega-4 relay right after the crew is taken, and make sure you send a loyal squad mate back as an escort.

Hmmm, always use Garus for both fire teams, use Legion in the vents... Samara as biotic shield... as for the rest, my team changes like the wind. Sometimes I'm with Grunt, sometimes with Tali, sometimes with Mordin etc etc... end result no one ever dies. All loyal, rescue crew straight away, and disagree with Miranda that it is a one way ticket. Crew escort, I have used nearly everyone at least once I think... besides Garus and Legion still 100% success.

Read Seneva's quote. It's the most accurate guide yet.
