Love the original idea and this would be a great twist to.  If you have your LI with you at the time, once Al-Jalani starts badmouthing the relationship, before you can interrupt, your LI interest knocks her ass out!  I LOVE IT!!!  This idea is full of WIN!!!

Only if you're both renegades.  Otherwise, your LI might decide to try to defend you verbally.  Or you could interrupt your LI and prevent a punch (or any other rash action that he/she might take, depending upon the particular character).

Ya know, normally I'm not big on promoting anything that has to do with trash tabloids... but this idea is not only highly entertaining, it brings a greater sense of immersion and realism to the romance and feel of the galaxy as a whole. I'd totally go for it... Besides, that Journalist had those knuckle sandwiches coming, and she knows it.

I think this would be interesting, but the cheating thing. It's not really cheating if you've moved on which is one of the things you can say when people ask about it. Like when Joker ask about it after running into Kaiden/Ashley on Horizon you can say that your friends now cause things have changed and such.

I totally support this idea - and I second BrassBuckle's photomanipulation addendum. Even better if the manip was really, really blatant and/or the video look alikes weren't that close at all.

Photomanipulated, no less.  So that it'd be your Shepard's head on someone else's body--same with the LI.  'Cause not many people are going to be able to get an actual photo of your Shepard while he/she is out on a mission, you know.

I like the idea, OP.  Romance shouldn't be the biggest thing in the game, but I think it is important that it feels a little deeper in the third and final game--and that it feels "resolved," along with the rest of the plot.

Yeah, but... photomanipulations are so much more fun than real pictures.  I mean they could get a couple  actors together in bed and... You get the idea.   Spice it up some?  [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/lol.png[/smilie]  Oh man I can see the tabloid people scouring for willing actors to play Shepard and an alien romantic interest...  I can bet most wouldn't be tremendously interested in the job unless it just paid really, really well.  Also, you should be able to buy a copy of said tabloid.
