If you were a Reaper....

If I was in Soverign's place, I prolly wouldn't have taken control of Saren's corpse if it runs the risk of my shields running down. Would have just hung around blowing up Alliance ships until there was nobody left.... AND then I'll take control of Saren's corpse.

I would get several races under my command, have them all open the gate, then massive reaper attack.

How would you take over the galaxy?

I would let the organics wage war amongst themselves and let themselves destroy each others like they've always been doing forever, no need for genocidal cycles, no need for hibernation, no need for mass relays, but then there would be no need for Reapers so... hmmm... I kind of lose right there. I'm not sure. Alright if I really had to do something as a Mr. Evil Reaper then, perhaps, I would simply try my best to indoctrinate the leading organic species right from the start and have them as slaves.
P.S/ By the way I can't stop looking at your avatar, it makes me laugh.

I would've indoctrinated someone extremely powerful politically and kept it low-key until my time to strike and cause politcal chaos and dictatorship. Maybe a council member. Hell, I would'nt be suprised if the turian was indoctrinated.
Indoctrination turns you into a dribbling mindless slave within the matter of a month. Saren didn't spend a lot of time on Sovereign, hence why he resisted its effects for longer, but by the end, it had almost fully consumed his mind.
The thing is that people would be able to tell if you had suddenly gotten more stupid. Well, then again, I suppose you could always point at GWB as a counter-argument.

Then perform the Reaper attack once the galaxy was weakened from fighting themselves.

The other Reapers? Ah screw 'em, they can gorge themselves silly then wait doing nothing for 50,000 years all they want, I'll be right here partying all day with my slaves thank you.

Won't your indoctrinated minions get really stupid eventually and forget how to... reproduce?

I'm talking about one of those subtle indoctrinations, almost like a 'ASSUMING CONTROL'. Hell, that's what'd I do as a reaper. If the other cuddlefish want to make mindless zombies, go ahead. I got other methods.TheUnusualSuspect wrote...

I would simply alter some to become like Collectors, semi-autonomous and cloned, no need for reproduction.
The rest I simply gather from sources outside my little sphere of influence. Nothing to get me noticed, a colony here, a stray freighter there, that sort of thing.
