Okay, I tried Insanity today with my Vanguard new game+ save and was destroyed.

I've looked around and it seems that Insanity may be least difficult with the Infiltrator class. Thoughts?

The real question you should ask yourself is what playstyle suits you? Insanity tends to focus on strategies and tactics over the usual charge and destroy method that is common among Vanguard. For me, personally, Engineer was very easy. Drone was useable against the hard bosses such as Harbinger and the YMIR Mechs and every power you have has a way of controling or manipulating the battlefield. I've played two Engineers thus far and now I'm struggling between an Engineer again or a Sentinel. The class itself was truly enjoyable.

Consensus seems to be for an easier insanity run, don't start it with a level 30. I'm currently doing it with a soldier (lvl 50 ME1 import, so started at lvl 3), about to start Horizon now. Only come across a couple of hard parts, and that's mainly because I'm not actually that good.

AR + sniper header shot is tops.

I've beaten the game on insanity as an adept infiltrator and engineer and the engineer class is by far the easiest. Combat drone makes life so easy and it has such a short cooldown its not a burden at all if it gets destroyed right away.

Cool, I'll think I'll stick with Vanguard with an imported ME1 save.

Will try Engineer or Soldier if I still get owned; I haven't tried those classes yet anyway.

I created a guide regarding the Engineer class Thorough Guide to Engeering so if you decide to go with that, give it a look.

I did Vanguard as my first Insanity playthrough, and once you get the hang of it, there are a couple hard battles but everything else is a joke.

a NG+ level 30 shepard is NOT something you want to do. youll be facing those same level 30 enemies only you have no upgrades. compareing my NG+ sentinel to a ME1 import soldier, the soldier is soooooo much easier. the sentinel is a tough class dont get me wrong, but NG+ insanity is damn hard to beat. start a fresh ME1 import character and youll have alot easier time.

ive been stuck on the collectors ship with my sentinel for DAYS. i started a soldier because it was far too difficult and i beat insanity fairly quick.

For me vanguard and soldier were the easiest insanity runs. I haven't played engineer or adept though. Vanguard got a little exhausting though, I maxed out charge, champion, and incendiary, then pretty much charged constantly.

Sentinel is one of the best after you get hard shields. before that it can be really tough at times.

All of the classes are easy to beat Insanity with, just in different ways.  For a balance of ease and speed it would be the Soldier, Infiltrator and Vanguard in that order.  For slower, yet quite a bit safer it would be Engineer, Adept, Sentinel.

Soldier, period. Soldier is easily the best class with adren rush giving a 100% damage boost and heightened adren rush giving a 140% damage boost. You can one shot any lesser enemy with a sniper rifle headshot.

Plus with the eviscerator, mantis, and vindicator you have a great mix of weapons to cover all ranges. Just max adren rush as soon as you can.

NG+ does make insanity much harder. It starts the enemy fully scaled up, but you don't have any of the weapon upgrades to counteract their scaling.

Engineer is pretty sweet for Insanity, as people have said.

I've only tried Insanity with Engineer, Adept, and Soldier.

Soldier cleared levels/rooms the quickest by far, but Engineer/Adept could handle some tricky situations with Singularity/Drone that a Soldier had more trouble with.

Vanguard I'm guessing would have great killing speed but would get realllly frustrated during sections of the game that don't allow Charge to be useful.

For me, Infiltrator has an edge since cloak is the best  "get out of jail free" card in the game, but all are pretty equal. The big thing to learn is how to use terrain. Not if you cover or move in or out, but positioning. For example, dashing up the staircase in the first Harbinger fight helps since it exposes all the enemy cover, moving from platform to platform in the collector ship.... yada yada.

AverageGatsby has some nice YouTube videos on getting through with an Adept. This resource makes Adept one of the easier classes to get through insanity.

Sentinel was OK on Insanity, but there were the occasional tough fight. Infiltrator has been a breeze so far (bring good squad mates too, e.g. I love how Grunt kan draw fire yet not immediately get killed). When you're cloaked, enemies act like you don't even exist, which obviously is handy - doesn't last long, but I find it more useful than both tech armor (Sentinel) and Adrenaline Rush.

soldier is easiest. there are some missions that you can finish by running through them rather than fighting and spamming heavy fortification/barrier/geth shield allows you to get through alive.

in terms of combat you want a soldier's variety of guns because you will need hundreds of thousands of bullets to beat the game. be prepared to scan because you will want as many upgrades as possible.

however, if you're going for just the achievement you do not need to complete much, you can just let your squad die and still complete the game and get the achievement.

I had little to no trouble with my NG+ Infiltrator, right now I'm running an Engineer and everything seems to be going fine.

I think Soldier is easy, and if you just want the acheivement use the Glitch to max out every power.

For ease, I would also have to agree that soldier is the best. Adrenaline Rush makes your guns put out more damage at a faster rate than anything any other class can manage with their powers. With their variety of weapons, you'll be able to tackle any enemies at any range. Their Incendiary Ammo and Disruptor ammo passives not only give great damage bonuses against their respective enemies, Incendiary panics organics while disruptor ammo stuns mechanical enemies. That being said, however, it's not as fun, in my opinion, as other classes as all you'll be doing the entire game is AR spamming and gunning people down.

For fun and power, Engineer is great on Insanity. You won't be mowing people down like you would with the soldier, but the battlefield control is much more satisfying. The combat drone, as well, is just about one of the best implemented "pets" (in terms of gameplay usefulness) in any game i've played.

Any class can beat insanity by just using reave. Poke your head out, reave, hide. If they start closing on you, run away.

Wait why shouldn't you use a level 30 soldier? Because I might import my level 30 for my insanity runthrough.

The game is balanced so that at lvl 30, the upgrades are almost necessary for the fights to not feel ridiculous at times.  Since you lose all your upgrades on NG+, the beginning can be pretty rough.  I did NG+ with my infiltrator, and it was annoying till after Horizon, then it became more reasonable.

So I should just start a new game as a soldier on insanity? Because I'm actually scared of doing that, I have 2 achievements left, brawler, and insanity.

Unless you're ridic good at CQB, you aren't going to be getting both of those on the same playthrough.  I would start a casual game, and keep reloading the tutorial mission to get brawler (meleeing then shooting everything).

Insanity is entirely possible to do on NG+, it just could lead to unnecessary frustration for many.  If you can get past any of the first recruitment missions alright, you should be fine.
