Forced Story Canon (spoilers)

It seems that Bioware is swaying toward the direction of not necessarily renegade, but toward sensibility of "the ends justify the means" mentality. For example, the neutral option of focusing fire on Sovereign in ME, keeping the Collector base because it just makes more strategic sense, and the fact that a non-imported new game in ME2 assumes that humanity took control and Udina (a politician) was bade the council chairman rather than a military officer.
So, I think that Retribution will reference that the Reaper tech that Grayson is implanted with came from tech salvaged from the Human Reaper larva. Not ruling out that it could just have been taken from the derelict Reaper; thereby keeping the story neutral, but even Ascension seemed to favor a particular canon.

No, I'm pretty sure Retribution is between ME1 and ME2. No one knows exactly how TIM acquired the Reaper tech, but it's very easy to inference that much of the technology based on the Reapers present on the Normandy (such as EDI, and I'm pretty sure the drive core as well) would of been built on by that Reaper technology implanted in Grayson.
That came from Sovereign >_>
Basically, if its set in between ME1 and ME2, TIM took the stuff from Sovereign.
If its after ME2, he took it from the base or the ship you got the IFF from.
If its from before ME1, TIM is not telling us something.

Drew Karpyshyn is down at BioWare Austin writing for The Old Republic. That, along with his Mass Effect and Darth Bane novels, probably keeps him way too busy to try to lead the writing team for ME3.Lyrandori wrote...
I hope Drew Karpyshyn had a discussion with Mac Walters, since Mac is the lead writer for ME2 after all, not Drew, also Mac wrote Redemption, so I don't know... maybe they're trying to either avoid or ignore each others, but apparently Mac wanted to go "his way" in ME2 with Drew's own creation. I for one think that Drew should take control of the writing for ME3, or else it's going down the drain... well, maybe it already is deep down the drain, Drew would have a monumental task at fixing the plot holes from ME2, and Mac would also have a monumental task at trying to explain them in ME3 if he ends up being the lead writer again.
