So i'm just now replaying an me2 imported character, an adept. After learning sniper rifles the first playthrough, I didn't get an option to choose another new weapon class or upgrade to the Widow on my second. Yet I've seen posts, from Vanguard players in particular, talking about using the Claymore in such-and-such situations and assault rifles in others. Is there something I'm missing? I.e. can you only learn one new type of weapon but can upgrade another weapon type in another playthrough provided your class has the base proficiency in that weapon? And if so, in the case of the soldier can you upgrade more than one weapon type?

Basic question I know, sorry if it's been covered. Search feature didn't get me much. Thanks

You can only pick the once. For that one, import a ME1 character again and re-choose.
