^^ Yes, I understand that, but when 70% of one page is about how ugly/sexy/cute/hideous Tali is my options become more and more limited

Hyperbole, much?

This is the second thread about Quarians on page one, counting the Tali thread. 20+ other threads are about other things.

And although I am pretty neutral on the matter, it'd be hilarious to have BW make Tali into a total space elf babe with gorgeous hair, just to see all the haters go "NOOOOOOO!" on the boards. B)

Oh, I think turians look cool, but I don't really see how they could be considered sexually attractive. Now, people attracted to Garrus because of his personality, that I can understand.

It's all about the voice and the sheer badassery of him. It also helps that turians are cool as hell. But traditionally attractive? No, just aesthetically pleasing.

Yeah, while I found Tali to be one of the most likable characters in the games (along with Wrex and Garrus), the speculation / obsession / Rule34 is ridiculous. Quarians look like they look, as according to BioWare, and nothing will change it.

Personally, I think they'll look a bit like squishy Turians. They have similar leg and hand structure, and Grunt I think mentions how they're tougher than humans and asari (not counting their unique immune system).

Grunt's quote is
"Less then an inch deep to sever your spine. You humans are soft. Salarians, Asari, all soft. Quarians, not so much. Turians you have to work the blade. Never saw much to point to it though. Heh, much point."

It's fairly reasonable that the not so much comment is in regards to how quarians are always in their suits.

... when taking realistic approach, I would argue, that Quarians may look like "Abe Sapien" from Hellboy series, or at least a little bit. ^^ ... and Abe himself is also a "TechWiz". But one thing is certain though ... that we do not know.

yeah if you have ever worn a cast or ever had any part of your skin confined to a sealed environment you will know that your skin gets extremely gross and clamly and pale.

if anything, quarians are probably the ugliest species in the galaxy, their bodies have definitely undergone evolution in 300 years. their skin pigmentation is probably completely gone, meaning you can see through their pale, opage flesh. they probably do not have hair as this thread implies, no eyebrows or eyelashes etc.

in general, they would probably be extremely gross. but you can deny all that by saying 'no quarian physiology is not like humans and their exosuits preserve them" yada yada.

as far as skin pigmentation, you are down right wrong.  With white people lack of sun is more easily noticeable, your skin color when getting no sun is your base pigmentation, it wont get any "whiter" than that.  i.e. when you are born.   If black people living in bio-suits for 300 years when they came out they would still be black people, they wouldnt all be white.  its in their DNA, whether they stay in the dark their whole life or roast in the sun, they will still be brown.

Dark skin is more resistant to UV rays, i.e. convieniently many ethnic groups that originate in hot sunny areas have dark pigmentation, because as a whole those with dark pigmentation out competed/survived those that didnt, until the entire ethnic population had dark skin.

it wasnt some decision made on a cellular level, the skin pigment was an ACCIDENT an abnormal mutation, it didnt happen because of the hot sunny environment, it happened to be a benefit  in the hot sunny environment.

on the flip side caucasian skin is more resistant to cold/frostbite guess what? most lighter complexion ethnicies lived in typically colder conditions.  same rules apply, it was a genetic accident that happened to work out.

i.e. if a a family of white people lived in egypt for 300 years, their babies wouldnt come out looking like they got a spray tan on the set of jersey shore.  Liekwise if a black family lived in sweden for 300 years their kids wouldnt come out looking like powder (unless either or mixed genes with members not of their ethnicity)

so unless a random genetic mutation occured that turned the skin of some of the africans in the space suits white, and they happened to outcompete the ones that were dark, in as small a time as 300 years, then they would be pale.  but considering their pigmentation wouldnt matter inside the suits, It is extremely highly unlikely especially a modern society.  Even in modern time, people with disabilities or genetic mutations, they would have been a death sentence in previous times, can survive now, due to technology and cooperation.

as pertains to immune systems.

i.e. if you kept a human in a sterile environment from birth for 30 years, they would get all jacked up when they came out too.   This is why you frequently get sick as a child, and less so as you get older, immunity is dynamic, and isnt "evolution" i.e. any cold/flu/etc you got as a child and became immune to, those immunities are not passed on to your children.  just like getting chicken pox, my parents got it, theirs before them, etc etc.

Natural immunity occurs, when again, via genetic accident happen to be immune to a specific disease while it kills off everyone else.  With humans this is noticeable since frequently in our history we were in isolated groups, and some people from certain regions have immunity to things other ethnicities dont.  Like studies they are doing now, that people who are naturally immune to boobonic plague seem to be immune to the aids virus (in preliminary studies), those natural immunities can be passed on and DONT GO AWAY, if breeding is kept with in a similar gene pool where it is a dominant trait.

Quarians, have a naturally weak immune system.   Bioware, just showed lack of understanding, when explaining why they want their home world back.   raising a quarian baby on a colony planet should be no different now than rasiing a quarian baby on a colony planet 300 years ago.  While exposure to adult quarians would suck just like it would for a human that spent their life in a sterile environment their immune system isnt any worse than it was 300 years ago, they just dont spend time growing up and gaining immunity to random bacteria/virus etc.

In all seriousness, you should always wear a sealed suit when visitng any plent even if habitable, who knows what kind of wierd ass alien ebola virus might be floating out there.

Yeah… I seriously doubt Bioware is going to ****** off a large percentage of their fanbase by making an LI ugly.

I dunno, bioware may use it as an experiment to find out if ppl really do "like" Tali, regardless of looks, or if the sole reason they like her, is because each person can make her look exactly as they want.

Just like the whole make everyone cheat on the ME1 LI experiment.

Haha and when they finaly reveal her and she's ugly as hell, we'll finaly see how many shallow minded people there are in the world of humanity! =D

Heh well, based on what profile shots you can make out inside her mask plus Shepard's favorable reaction she is likely on the attractive side of the spectrum.

I do agree that I don't want a space elf though, but at this point we can conclude she is certainly not ugly.

I hope Bioware doesnt intentionaly make her ugly. They dont have to make her beautiful, just average. Making her ugly would just be insulting Tali fans.

Turians look pretty badass in my opinion. Here's something that's occurred to me though... We still have never seen Turian females, or Krogan, or Salarian, or come across Elcor, or Volus females at all. Just human women, and the unisex Asari... Galaxy's seeming a bit one-sided.

Actualy BW made a good reason not to dhow Krogan and Salarian females. Krogan females have there own camps and no one is allowed in expect for a few people. Salarian woman stay at home and until we go to a Salarian colony or the homeworld we won't see one. As for Volus females, we have no clue what one would look like, for all we know we might have seen one. As for the Elcor, they hate travling so most likely if we visited the homeworld we would meet some.

The only females that we should see are female Turriens and Bioware has no good reason not to show us.

Honestly, the tali drawings are realy awesome and all guys, but dont start actin like shes gonna look like an elf and guessing what her hair color should look like, and then you tell me to shut up and i wouldnt know
well your right i dont know, but after reading acsension and finding a naked quarian being tortured, i got a real good idea that they sure as hell dont look like legolas

Although I agree that they probably aren't nothing but blue humans (i.e. Asari with hair), what passage of the book gave you the impression that they are hairless? It does mention that their ears are different referring to them as "what passed for the quarian version on an ear", but I don't recall any mention of whether or not they have hair.

Quarians are mammalian, so I'd thing they do have hair. Humans are to monkeys as quarians are to koalas.

Garrus was in the bathroom.

But if she was Cthulu or something, yeah I'd expect a reaction from Shep - certainly.

And I think Jack is attractive, not all the tats and stuff but she's certainly got a nice face.

I find it extremely unlikely that they would keep hair. Hair would be very inconvenient and unhygienic with that suit.

I actually assume the Quarians have hair, given the respective shapes of men and womens helmets. The mens design reminds me of tied back braids, while the womens helmet shape calls to mind hair put back in a scarf or bonnet. I'll definitely be disappointed if Quarians are not unmasked in ME2 DLC or more likely ME3, but even that would be perferable to the space elves.

I mean hell, at least make them Eldar.
