I'm actually on a run with a Power Armored Sentinel w/ Stasis, might go Raider when my level is high enough, plus the Avalanche. :)
Husks beware , and when Harby comes along, Kasumi's Flashbang for the win!

Interesting. I've chosen stasis for my latest Sentinel, and was thinking of going Power Armour and forsaking my usual shotty cqc approach and taking assault rifles or sniper to be a beefed up caster. I'm thinking Avalanche will allow me to ditch cryo blast and using arc projector will let me ignore overload, unless I put a few points in it and don't max out throw or warp (prefer throw field to heavy warp usually).
Did wonder how well stasis fits a stay back caster sentinel though, when the stasis sort of panic button (which is how I use it) is less of an issue when not fighting at close range. That said, works nicely on YMIRs and charging krogan so far.

Stasis should work just as well from range or up close. It doesn't need to be a 'panic button' per se, but can be used as a sort of damage booster via exploit. Ranged Sentinels using it this way would just need to be mindful to keep stasis targets in LOS when they ragdoll.

The Firestorm is useful for a vanguard using charge, not to say it's my favorite.

I've only recently discovered the joys of the arc projector. That, with a nicely placed Overload from Garrus and a double warp from my Shep and Thane makes them YMIRs cower in fear.

I've actually found that Charge and the Grenade Launcher makes quick work of groups of enemies.  Luckily there's no friendly fire with the GL.  The avalanche works pretty well in this manner as well since it's so good against shields and armor.  I charged into the group of enemies coming into the vault on kasumi's loyalty mission and blasted away.  I think two pulls of the trigger and I had all but 1 of the enemies frozen.

Good times good times.

On my first play through the collector weapon and the cain were my faves.  Now, I'm all about the avalanche.  Grenade launcher looks the coolest (on a non soldier back).  The only complaint I have about HW's is how cluttered the back of a soldier gets and how the weapons "clip" into each other.

To be fair, the Avalanche's version of Cryo is an order of magnitude beyond things like Cryo Blast. Aside from absolutely wtfpwning defences, it's freeze effect seems to last an age. It's similar to what the Arc Projector is to Overload.

The Avalanche has superior RoF (similar to the Mattock). You can fire 3-4 shots in one second and that will freeze every mob (the Arc Projector is still charging; though its AoE is larger).

The Grenade Launcher is great too; aimed right it can kill half a dozen husks with a single shot. Give it a try on the Derelict Reaper :)

The Avalanche is a beast cause it's freeze duration feels like double than what Cryo Ammo or Blast could ever achieve at increased duration with maxed points and research.

Agree with JaegerBane's point about the Avalanche and the Arc Projector compared to their caster counterparts, which is kind of why I think there good as on my Sentinel I can substitute Overload with the Arc which lets me put points in other powers, very flexible in design.

Shame the Firestorm isn't the same as it is compared to Incinerate which is why I hate it.

I love the avalanche, but I just used it on the first platform of the collector ship trap to freeze the three collectors ( like in the Gatsby engineer video ), but I've had problems with it not firing rapidly.  Sometimes nothing happens ( I know you can charge a shot and maybe that is why there is a lag ) even if you pull and release the trigger a bunch of times nothing happens.  Maybe you don't notice this on PC version, but I do on xbox.

I never had RoF issues with the Avalanche; it shoots as fast as I can hit the fire button though I don't use HW much.

Here's a vid showing how fast you can fire the Avalanche: www.youtube.com/watch

I'm trying to use HW's more, although i forget to utilize them alot. First few playthroughs, on the odd occasion that i did use one, it was mostly the particle beam, and once or twice, the avalance.

Current engineer playthrough though, i've fallen in love with the arc projector. Hepled me quite a bit on the first collector ship platform fight, albeit with some trial-and-error.

I too have fallen in love with the arc projector. The charge-up time takes some getting used to, but the way it strips the defenses off big mobs is awesome. Suddenly shieldless enemies + Samara's pull field FTW.

Well in terms of destructive power. Cain is the best at just killing things. The Avalanche can strip defenses really fast. The Arc projector is good at large tight crowds. Particle beam is good at ranges. Grenade Launcher is just a good solid middle man.

So then that leaves three left that aren't so good. I'll start with the best of the worst.

Firestorm, short range but very ammo efficient, really good against husks and other close range foes. Not worthless just less versatile then the others.

Blackstorm, It's like a Singularity with a charge up time. It's not that great at damage, however on lower difficulties this thing can annihilate many many enemies.

Missile Launcher, it has exactly 1 noteable use. Saving the crates by sending the projectiles around the mountain face to lure YMIR Mechs. Even then I prefer using the Cain.

Well that's my opinion, and while they are not numbered they are in order of best to worst in my opinion.

I am a particle beam ****. In fact, I love it so much its standard arsenal for me.

What a kind gift from the Reapers. I hope it is in Mass Effect 3.

The Collector Particle Beam wins my praise unanimously. Watching it rip through protection like butter is glorious. I must concede though, using the Cain are a particular giant bug is so immensely satisfying. It gives the CPB competition.
