On my first playthrough I noticed that the one you chose to go thorugh the vent dies. Other than that I'm not completely sure.
I've almost finished me second playthorugh on hardcore now, and I've spend some time talking to tali and I actually want to see what happens with shepard and tali now.. Then she dies, in the final battle. She gets taken by the insect flies or whatever they're called.
So now I want to restart the mission and make sure I keep the crewmembers alive so I can continue playing with them. So my question is, how do I make sure I do exactly that? And send those crewmembers I don't care about to the death.. Like zaeed.
Who dies in the final battle?

Lots and lots of threads on this....
But the 'easy way' to have no one die:
-Use Garrus, Miranda, or Jacob (?) as fire team leaders
-Tali/Legion don't die in the vents. Most other people do, if there's someone who's really pissed you off for some reason.
-Use Samara/Jack as your biotic specialist. (This seemed kinda obvious. I know 'any biotic can do it in theory', but I didn't bother recruiting a dangerously unstable ultimate human biotic and an Asari Justicar to farm out biotic jobs to someone like Jacob.)
-Send Mordin back with the crew or take him with you to the final battle
-Buy all ship upgrades
-Get everyone's loyalty
