Australia is the clear choice. Its westernized and wealthy enough to have good looking cities, while not falling prey to the cliche that is north american cities

How about my hometown of New Orleans? It doesn't fall into the cliche of any North American city and I'm pretty sure it'll always have ghettoes and slums, even in the future.

I've always personally thought of Johannesburg or New Calcutta as great places for the game.

I thing the Earth is the target for the next game. Depends how they make the game how we play it either Earth survive or get taken over or bye bye earth as a whole.

I say Houston, Johannesburg, Geneva, London, or Sydney,

Houston because it probably has a massive spaceport.

Johannesburg because I like District 9.

Geneva because it's a major Western political center.

London because I don't really know.

Sydney because it's a major world city that's not in America.

Probably going to be the landmass that's under the ice in Antarctica. There they'll find an ancient artifact that has been buried under the ice until recent melting and it will help them destroy the Reapers. Or you find out Humans are really ancient and special or some **** and that Human civilization has been around for a lot longer than they thought and the artifact is something from Humanity's distant past.

Uh, megatropolis? If you read the Codex entry for Earth, it says that modern cities are utilizing arcological structures and making more efficient use of land. So basically, the cities might have actually shrunk in breadth. The buildings will be much taller to compensate; think of what you saw on Illium or the Citadel.

In-game description of the Earthborn background:

You were born on Earth, but you never knew your parents. A child of the
streets, you learned to live by your wits and guts, surviving in the
hidden underbelly of the megatropolises of humanity's homeworld.

I think Inverse forgot to account for the sheer size of Earth's population in ME.

It is known that Houston is a megatropolis. But I don't think that New York itself would sprawl as far south as VIRGINIA.

I simply went off of what the Codex entry said, that the cities of Earth were undergoing a "greening" as land was used more efficiently through utilization of large arcologies.

Also:

Think of the Arcologies (the massive mega-skyscraper colonies) as the
places where the rich and fortunate go.  The "old" cities are where the
vast majority of the low and mid middle class live, with huge, dirty
zones of slums and burbs where the the "people too lazy to work*" live,
fight and die in an environment of urban darwinism.

**not the
way I think, but if humanity is anything like it is now in 2183 (and I
have little hope that we'll improve that much) then thats the view the
mojority of the people then would have.  "Well, if you just bootstrap
your life, apply yourself and work hard you'll fo fine" and other such
small-minded, naive BS
.

lol. Someone's bitter.

That said, colonists of all walks of life inhabit arcologies. I think it's less a FUTURE CONDO COMPLEX and more an actual city with more elevators. If anything, the wealthy and well to do would probably opt to inhabit less populated areas, away from the peasants and the noise.

Yeah and that's why proteans observed Cro-Magnons on Earth when they were beating each other to death with wooden sticks.

Yes.  Because the population is too large to simply spread  There are too many people to NOT build upawrds.  But megatropolises with massive spread are still likely, especially in major population centres.

If there is a earth mission in ME3, then I feel it would be set in Europe. Or maybe Africa.

Post of Varenus Luckmann reported due to racism in his post. Totally uncalled for.

IMO this is not racism... He is talking about an area of the world that at this moment in time has a great deal of issues, social and economic. He was not talking about a, "race" of people, but a place in the world....

i hope that a mjission on earth take place in other parts of the world and not just america, I WOULD PREFER a futristic succesfull african city or maybe europe or asia,

making and earth based mission in america along will just add to the cliche of american based games, it would be better if a mission were elsewhere on earth.

Halo tended to take place in a more futuristic African setting and so is Naughty dog, whos games tend to not even be anywhere near America, frankly North America would be a good setting.

ME3 is supposed to be a battle for the survival of the galaxy and you want Shep to go to a vacation island?

I guess I'm in minority again, but I'' lite: I do not want to go to Earth - there are enough futuristic earths in the sci-fi community - can't we just for once let that go?
