Hello! There's no music during the cinematics but you can hear the guy
talk. Same thing in game, fighting sounds and such are there but the
music isn't. Please help!

I have the same thing happening. I've noticed some other issues with speech and I'm wondering if maybe it has something to do with the stereo fold-down from surround. Just off-hand, what kind of listening environment are you listening to the game with?

Any help with this? I have the same problem on my Win7 64 system, XFi Titanium with latest drivers and patches.

All the sound effects play, just no music.

Bump this old post, I just ran into the same problem, all sound effects playing, no music anywhere though, bars are at 100% and I fiddled with all sound settings. Also searched the forums for any solutions but no dice.

Can anyone help with this issue? I have no music on my PS3 but regular audio works fine. Sounds and Dialog work well but no music whatsoever...

Same problem here. Music was working with 1.03/Awakening till my HDD failed. Installed the game on a new SSD HD and no music, tried installing it to a sata drive (like my original) and still no music except for the menu screen and cutscenes. Using the same mods and settings I had before so I have no idea why the music doesn't work all of a sudden.

Just started playing this game for the first time -- I'm a PS3 owner, so not playing it on the PC -- and noticed pretty quickly that there's no music in the game whatsoever outside the cut scenes. It's actually a little distracting, particularly considering how everyone's always going on about how beautiful the music is.

By the looks of it, we're not going to be getting any help with this situation. :(

greetings :)

have been suffering this very problem lately but I believe I found a simple workaround

not sure it will fix the issue permanently ,depends on the configuration I guess ,but still it's worth a try

scine much of the mods override the main packages of dragon age origins I thought that might work if i'am to "force" the music files just like the mod files

so I copied the following files which are under :

Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\audio\\sound

music.fev

music_bank_strm_death.fsb

music_bank_strm_new.fsb

music_cutscene.fev

music_notstream_sting.fsb

those files are the ones containing all the music tracks of the game I think

and I just pasted them under

Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\override

and I could hear the music upon loading the save INGAME as it should be

PS: I'm running the game with the latest patch the 1.4 on Windows 7 64 ,with audio drivers updated and everything

Patch 1.4 :http://social.bioware.com/page/da-patches

hope this help others with this issues

good luck

Trying this now, however the initial location of those files to be copied is:

Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\AddIns\\gxa_res_to_core\\core\\data\\audio\\sound

I'll edit this if the fix works.

Surely there was a better choice of a "No Music" thread out of all of those available?

" About 191 results (0.23 seconds) "

When checking the archives, you should ignore the terrible excuse for an in-forum tool, and just add a site: redirection criteria to a Google or Yahoo search, as I just did and saw the above total mentioned.

(I'm not familiar with the symptom, but the age of the thread you chose did catch my eye, so I thought I'd suggest the far better way to search in here.)

Why does everyone feel the need to criticize people for asking questions in older threads? This is the first one that came up, so this is where I looked first as it did offer something that looked like it could fix the problem. It did not, which is a shame, but still.

If the in-forum Search is terrible, and it is, then all it shows anyone is the very oldest threads, instead of whatever may be much more pertinent.  Many forums automatically lock any thread that hasn't been active in a certain time period, such as ten days or two weeks, and that works very well.  The moderators aren't particularly active in here, but elsewhere through these Social Forums, you will find that they are regularly locking down threads this old that are dug out, and telling the necromancers to stay away from the oldest parts of the graveyard.
