I have been playing for almost 12 hours with no single issue and now run into a complete gamestopper.

After arriving in Redcliffe, the game always freezes completely at a certain point in the conversation with Bann Teagan. It's not depending on which path in the conversation I choose. At one point, after the Bann says something the game freezes completely and can only be closed via the taskmanager.
No error message thus and no clue.

It does not seem an audio issue, despite the sound hanging in a loop when it freezes, as completely disabling sound in the config utility does not solve the problem.

System specs:

Core2Duo E6850 @ 3GHz
Vista 64bit (up-to-date)
Asus Xonar D2/PM (newest, patched drivers)
2x NVidia 8800GT (195.39 Beta drivers installed after complete clean of previous drivers)
Latest DX9 and DX10

As mentioned, the game has been running perfectly for 12+ hours, and now I simply can't pass this conversation. Anyone encountered somthing similar or got any clue how to continue?

Getting frustrated....:(

Me too - is there a fix for this, or is the Redcliff part of the game game now no longer available to me?

This is a User to User forum, and any attempts to solicit technical help really should include the usual information that you've omitted (see the OP's example?)

I was hoping the user had had some action. Presumably not. Looks like the old divide and conquer support system - ask for a huge amount of useless info so the user gives up and goes away.....

This isn't EA's official support here, not at all. Read the forum description, for a nice change of direction.

(Edited) I ran an in-forum search, and I imagine that some other example of what's there would have helped you more (personally, I never had any difficulty with a freeze at Redcliff).than the unconcluded thread choice you made.

"Your search for « redcliff » returned 51 result/s.

I have the same problem, and it also happens in many other places. I posted all my dxdiag info, and gave a detailed explanation. I got no reply.

Here's how I got rid of the problem 9 months ago:
Uninstalled the game from the D: partition and reinstalled it to the home partition (C:), the one where the Windows Vista Bug was installed.
Ran perfectly ever after.
It seems, some combinations of copy protected games and Windows Vista simply HATE logical drive partitioning.

Here's how I got rid of the problem for good:
Got a new comp. Got Windows 7. No trouble since :P

That would be great if I ran Vista, but I use XP, and I'm not buying a new OS just to play a game that should be working on XP.

I run windows 7. When i arrive to Redcliffe i talk with thomas and it is ok, then he leads me to Teagan but when Teagan and Alistair stop speaking i can't anwer 1, 2 or 3 with keyboard nor i can with mouse. If thread means what i say about then i have pretty same problem.
