Another rookie question most likely, but here goes:

I want to get the achivement for completing the game on hardcore, but in order to do that, do you have to start a new career(level 1), where the diffuculty is set to hardcore or can you use a char from previous career and just set the diffuculty on hardcore asap(after the intro is done and you are about to head down to the captain)?

You can switch the difficulty if you choose to continue a character. I've read that you have to do it before completing Eden Prime but I did it on the Normandy to be sure. I got both Hardcore and Insanity with this.

When you importa charactor from a previous carer you get the option of changing the difficutly before you start, so yes that will work.



However, importing a character from a previous run wull make the game harder because enimies keep their upgrades and you lose them.



I'd suggest that if you want to get the achievment to start the game from scratch. And play on Insanity. It's more fun.

Cylinder, I think you're talking about Mass Effect 2. Upgrades, armour etc. are all kept in Mass Effect 1. ME1 also doesn't give you the option to change the difficulty.

Yep, just to confirm...



It doesn't matter if it's a new character or a NG+ import, as long you select the difficulty you want before activating the beacon you're ok.
