Hi All

I have finished the game and now I´m replaying the last battle and I want to take the final blow and make the last sacrifice.
The only problem is that when I´m about to do it Alistair talks to me and is he who does what I want to do.
No matter what I tell him he always goes for the dragon.
Can anyone please help me? I want to see that ending.
Thanks in advance :D

That's not true. The last line I got with Alistair was "You need to be king, and you're going to be." After that, my PC went and did the deed. I don't remember what the other lines were getting to that point, but I don't remember a Persuade or Intimidate check.

If you're on PC you can always open the conversation in the toolset. If you're not I guess I could do it.

Indeed - once you've progressed his romance to a certain point, regardless of whether or not it's ended, Alistair insists on saving you. *grumble* It irritates me there's no option like the following:

"Alistair! Behind you!" Club him over the head.

So, either don't romance him or leave him at the gate.

I did not see the line AlanC9 mentioned and I´ve read in other topic that if you leave him at the gate he dies in battle. Not the ending I´m seeking: I want him to rule alone and honor his fallen commrade, me, that is :)

So I´ll go for another play and no romance ;)

He doesn't die in battle at the gates....unless its a normal kind of dead that Wynne can resurrect him from. With a romanced Alistair, you have to leave him at the gates. Then you can sacrifice yourself, and if he's king, he'll give your eulogy. Otherwise you have to listen to Anora. >.<

Thanks for the help :D
I saved the game where Morrigan offers the ritual and will replay the final battle from there,
leave Alistair at the gates and see what happens :)

Alternatively, do the "Dark Ritual" (Achievement name, the Quest is Morrigan's Ritual), or if female, have Alistair do it. I had Alistair at 100 Love with an Elf Mage (She started the Romance after Landsmeet, and even got the Love scene). At the End, dispite the fact that Alistair was there, I got to do the deed. No conversations with Alistair.

It's kind of frustrating, because I find it a bit of a reach that it's possible to leave one of the only 3 people that can kill the archdemon at the gates. On the other hand, it's more believable than that Alistair would just watch while someone he loves dies. He's just not that kind of guy, so.... Yeah.

Precisely why knocking him out or restraining him in some way should have been an option.

I think its not too much of a reach to see the PC wanting to leave him there - my girls would never risk the King. I do wish he'd put up more of a fight about staying, could have made for some nice dialog and maybe a really hard persuasion check. But then again, maybe Alistair realizes that the king shouldn't risk himself either, much as he wants to go.

The buddy parting speech is really wonderful, btw. lol It actually works really well when the romance tag is bugged and he's out of the romance even though he's supposed to be "still in love" - I thought it was still very fitting.

Some characters are going to see themselves a wardens first, royalists second, however. It would be nice if there was a way to roleplay that and still have options. Maybe that's the point, though. At that moment, you have to choose between defeating the blight and the rule of Fereldan, all romance aside.  That's a choice male Couslands don't have to make. On the other hand, if they want to be consort, they have to do it with someone who's a lot less fun than Alistair. Maybe it evens out. :)

Maybe knocking him out really would have been the best option. ;)

I won't know how I'm going to handle it until I manage to built a party that can even make it to the archdemon without Alistair and Morrigan, let alone defeat it! So far, not even close.

Or race him to it.

First one to get to the Archdemon doesn't have to watch their lover die! GO!

Heh, that would actually be more in character than the other options. ;)

Yes! *trips Alistair* "Sorry my bad, love." *grabs sword and runs for it* No one said anything about keeping it fair. Image IPB

Here´s what I did:

-Refused the dark ritual.

-Left Alistair at the gates.

-Took Leliana, Shale & Oghren with me (I was playing as a female arcane warrior)

- On the rooftop I called in the army of mages; that got the job done Image IPB

In the end Alistairs gives a heart-touching speech and I could see my character laying on top of a
grey stone altar. She looked very pretty in her Blood Dragon Armor Image IPB

-The Ultimate Sacrifice Achieved.
