Ah yes, females, the supposed opposite gender to male and is required for sexual reproduction. We have dismissed these claims.

Explains rawtha a lot about the turian council member, doesn't it?

Female turians having breasts? No. Female turians having a differently-shaped breastbone than the male? Sure. You see traits like that all the time in nature, hooray for sexual dimorphism in all its glory! (I can hear a 'yay boobies!' behind me so I assume my husband is reading over my shoulder.)

Do they lay eggs? No reference is made to that specifically when the one Krogan goes on about what his clan will do (including devouring Salarian eggs as a delicacy) to infant turians. The bachelor party human mentions specifically that humans and Asari have 'that divot in her abdomen' and the turian there indicates turians have no navals with the tone of his 'that can't be sanitary!' comment. So... conclusively, nothing. My suspicion is that it's like a number of other reptiles - ovoviviparity. What is that?

"A mode of reproduction in animals in which embryos develop inside eggs that are retained within the mother's body until they are ready to hatch. Ovoviviparous animals are similar to viviparous species in that there is internal fertilization and the young are born live, but differ in that there is no placental connection and the unborn young are nourished by egg yolk. However, the mother's body does provide gas exchange (respiration).
Ovoviviparity is employed by many aquatic life forms such as fish and some sharks, reptiles, and invertebrates"  Go go gadget wikipedia!

If that's the case "and your waist is ... verrrry supportive" would probably indicate a larger torso ("boobies!" I hear again) to make room for the incubation process.

Orrrrr BioWare could just GIVE US FEMALES OF THE DIFFERENT SPECIES NOW THAT WE ARE SELLING OUR SOULS, CHILDREN and yes, EVEN OUR OWN MOTHERS to keep buying up everything Mass Effect and we could stop having to speculate! Grrr!

Who knows, I had thought Turians keep females in the kitchen like Salarians and Krogan, but according to Garrus this is not so.
BioWare are just lazy.

and thats stupid. Krogan women have their own clans and are incharge of protecting the children. and we dont know about Salarians.

Why would lizard people have breasts?

Turriens are not lizards, they are Raptors, just like how Thane is a frog not a fish.

1. Who knows what earth analogue the Turians actually have.
2. Thane is reptilian not amphibious and is thus closer to lizards.
3. You have not spelled Turians right once.

Salarians are a matriarchal society and only 10% of their population is female. I think

There's an Elcor female in one of the Citadel Elcor Hamlet advertisements.

Edit: Found it, the female elcor is playing the part of Ophelia:

Addlepated grief: He is dead and gone, lady, he is dead and gone;
At his head a grass-green turf, at his heels a stone.

I rarely respond to anything, but some people seem confused concerning the design for the female turian. All I am going to say is that those aren't breast, boobs etc. They don't exist.

Conventional wisdom says that Krogan females are both larger and stronger than Krogan males. Who better for the most important task any Krogan can undertake.

IIRC, no. If anyone actually has a source that claims otherwise, do quote. I have looked around but as far as I can find Turians do not lay eggs.
Only Salarians do... from the main races at least.

Turians are meant to be like a missing link between dinosaurs and birds. Not to the extent that they have feathers, though.
I don't see any feathers on this guy:

I don't see any reproductive organs either.  Unless this is actually a Turian female and Turians don't have ******.

Well, aside from primates an some assorted other mammals, most animals don't have external genitals. It makes sense too, I mean from an evolutionary stand point, if you damage those, you might as well be dead (can't reproduce means you fail in the whole evolution sense of passing on your genes). Thus, having a set that does the job, but is otherwise not easily damaged is advantageous.

Of course, we're all assuming they reproduce even remotely like earth analogues. For all we know, they make babies like Kiff does on Futurama - by passing genetic material through the skin. Or maybe they do it like fish, and there is just a really awesome drinking contest/dance that takes the place of the traditional act.

Or maybe the art was made with the possibility that a kid might see it in mind, and thus it is gender neutral.  Maybe the artist wasn't comfortable drawing alien dangly bits.

not a bad rendering. But i think the females might have less of a head crest. I read somewhere they were going for a partially "avian" look on turians, and male birds are more flashy than female birds.

Garrus says that the most desirable characteristics on a turian female are her head fringe and her hips. That implies that the females have flashier head fringes.

this is the direct link to my idea of a Turian-girl.
Cat like, elegant, sexy (?) ... high sex - dimorphism...
I think Garrus is very leonine, much more than reptilian, so I got the idea of this cat-woman with thick skin.
I'm not able to insert an image directly in the forum page, sorry.

P.S. I've never studied drawing techniques, so be good

Two things, first, no necro due to ontopic post. Just to silence those who'd falsely accuse you of thread necromancy.

Second, as for the drawing: O M G. Just to clarify my expression, I don't judge your drawing, but I think the concept (especially with that feline outlines) doesn't fit the Turians. And though I appreciate anything that has to do with cats (cat-nut here), I couldn't imagine female Turians like that.

uh, I searched for 'turian female' and I found 3 threads with this title, which is the one still alive?

Anyway, many species have a big sexual dimorphism, males are very different from females, so I thought it could be for Turians too, it's the only way I can imagine them pretty :)

Elfadel, I like your idea of a female turian. She is very elegant in a turian way if you know what I mean.

Actually I do think neither of those threads are still alive. That's why I placed my official Necro-Shield before you. Besides, your work includes felines, that alone makes me be the one people will have to go through to get to you *ähem ... cough*.

As for the dimorphism, I think the gap between dominant reptile features to dominant feline features is a bit too radical. I do however confirm that Garrus (and consequently other Turians) do have a somehow leoness thing to them now that I think of it, though it may be the feline-herpderp of me speaking ... tone down the changes some bits and it may come closer to a generally acceptable outline (don't know whether you could empicture that though ... I certainly can't).
