Hello, I've been trying to get into modding Dragon Age forever, but I could never really get into it because I was so confused. Only this weekend did I break my mental barriers and started to do all sorts of things--custom items in the inventory, head morphs, really, really small stuff like that. But if I try anything bigger, I run into a few MAJOR issues:

*) If I want to install a mod, sometimes the instructions say to install with DA Modder or DA Updater. I don't have either, and the DA Modder refuses to install properly, which is very frustrating!

*) I'm missing so many files I don't even know where to start! There is literally nothing in any of the folders that were installed with the game. No textures, no itemvariation.xls, no .dds files, etc. They only things I have are what I myself installed in the Override folder, and it's really, really disturbing.

Did I install the game wrong or something? I really, really want to mod it but I can't. :(

Can somebody please help? I'm desperate.

1. I use damodder myself.

2, Those files are there or you couldn't play game. For instance the xls are located here C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Dragon Age\\tools\\Source\\2DA on my computer. Path might be different on yours. I strongly suggest that you do any editing or practice under your own mod in toolset.

Thanks for replying so quickly! :)

The problem with DAModder, for me, is that I download it, open it up with 7-Zip, click the .exe button there, and it says it's encountered an unforseen error and needs to shut down. :\\ I've redone it about ten times or so (the download) and WinZip wants me to buy their product before I can use theirs. :(

I have a 64-bit Windows Vista, and i don't know if that's different from yours or not. My DAO file is under C:\\Users\\Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age and there is no "tool" file on there. In the 't' section there is "temp" and "Toolset" but like I said before they're all empty. :\\

I have Vista 64 bit with SP2 so your platform shouldn't be a problem. From your previous post it almost sounds like you were trying to execute within 7-zip instead of extracting files then running executable. Well glad you got that part going. Again be careful with your file editing and tinkering. A good rule of thumb is there is no reason I can think of to ever open Single Player module in toolset. Those resourses can be called in and played with under a 'skeleton' mod you create with Manage Module function. Cheers.
