i'm not sure where else to post this, but my idea is this:

Why not, as Commander of the team, be able to set up other squad members on dates, spend time together to become friends, or start a full romance. The romance option for the main character to pursue a LI is great, but it hasn't changed much in a long time (though some changes in DA:O). Just adding homosexual relationships doesn't change the dynamics of the romance system very much and having multiple partners seems more like a gimmick than real relationships. If you could help squad members become more friendly or start a romantic relationship, it would add a lot of dynamicism (though you would want to be careful who you set up in a relationship because it could shut down the option of a LI). They would also probably be somewhat willing to talk with you about the relationship, seeing that you were the match-maker.

As far as gameplay, it may give bonuses to characters that are friends or in a relationship if they are both in your team on a mission.

There could also be the possibility to create conflict between squad members, though it should come with some penalties somewhere (possibly just in combat but also in how open they are with you).

i'm not saying this would be easy to impliment, but more interaction between squad members can't hurt the enjoyment of the game.

Any ideas?

I like the idea of Shepard influencing interactions between the various squadmates (and even other NPCs), romantic or otherwise. Renegade Shepards could have the opposite approach, keeping everyone at each others' throats and getting some kind of reward for it, like having them compete with each other and earning research upgrades of some kind. Cooperative squadmates could unlock different research upgrades by working together.

i think you are right about that, there should really be a bonus for keeping some squad members at odds with each other. i still think there should be a penalty for using two squad members that hate each other in the team for the mission, unless you had a very high renegade score. If that was the case, then you should be able to make the two squad members very competitive so that they were always trying to one-up each other.
i think the bonuses should be different based on whether the squad members were friends, in a romance, or hated each other; or atleast different between paragon (liking each other) and renegade (hating each other).

Yeah, let's turn Mass Effect into a space soap opera/dating sim. In between hooking up your squad mates and filming them with Cerberus's hidden cameras, you can scan planets for minerals to research better gifts to woo your squad mates.
