After watching the love scene between my female PC (the one in my avatar, in fact) and Leliana.  Seriously, it's like I was watching Skinemax or something.  Luckily, I live alone so I didn't have to explain to a wife or girlfriend what the hell it was I was playing.  That would have been embarrassing.

It's not that the love scene was graphic or anything.  It's actually the same exact love scene between a male PC and a female character.  But replace the male model with my female avatar rolling around in her underwear with Leliana and you get the picture.

I dont' think I'll be doing that again, I was just curious to see how same sex relationships were handled in DAO.  And as a result I feel...slightly dirty.

Edit: If I were a gay woman, I'd probably be pretty mad about it, actually.  The Zevran sex scenes at least are different for gender AND race (I think the only ones which are the same are the elf ones).

My Girlfriend thinks it's funny, she said I imposed hetro standards on an alternate choice of partners (I'm male, playing a girl in game and didn't want to hook up with any male characters) lol

This exactly.  I'm also a guy in real life, and I find the male romance options in DAO to be utterly unappealing.  I hate Allistair and don't really care for Zevran either.  Leliana was simply the best choice.

Gotcha.  Ok, so I'm wrong.  I'm pretty good at that!  And actually, I'm glad it is accurate, because I thought it was a bit insulting to overlook that detail.

I felt that all love scenes pretty much were ment to show not the sex, but the being close, the gentle caressing before the actual act in a lovemaking born out of romantic love.
And I think this was the best way to do so.
How else could they? Having Leliana lighly touch your finger with hers during the Landsmeet to show you that she is there? Would have been sweet and something very much in character for her. It might have been an even stronger means of showing that emotion... but then it would distract from the Landsmeet. (the Landsmeet being just the first example that came to mind)

Not strap-ons as such, though other "tools" they did long before the middle ages.

Eheh, I'm a guy and it's the exact opposite for me, I wish the female romances were done half as well as the male ones.

Morrigan's obviously using you right from the start and it's confirmed in a fairly blatant fashion towards the end of the game. Plus I can't get past the whole Swamp Witch image, her sense of hygene is likely to be rather questionnable even by Ferelden's lax standards (IE: Loghain's reaction to the Dark Ritual). Leliana on the other hand is so over the top sweet, I half-expect her to randomly spout Kawai every two minutes and break out the J-Pop.

Did you actually romance her?

Because while I can't say this is entirely wrong, I can say that there's a lot more to it than that, and the fact that she never wanted to like/love The Warden (or anyone) makes her romance much more interesting.  Further, her capriciousness when it comes to love making adds a bit more depth to the romance than any of the other characters.  Not to mention the ring, and just watching her struggle with her feelings for The Warden.

I agree with the not liking Leilianna thing, however, though for different reasons.  I can't get over the fact that if she made the claims she makes in the game around any kind of modern psych professor (and acted on them as she does), she would most likely be deemed a danger to herself and others and clinically insane.

Alistair and Morrigan are pretty much tied for my favorite romances.
