It could be that the GPR has a variable rate of damage to keep it inline with its variable ROF. 3.1 seems incredibly low, but there has to be a reason why that number is there even though gameplay testimonies say that it roughly = Avenger damage.

Not only that, but according to the numbers every other rifle should be better at destroying shields and barriers (it only has .10 extra on its multiplier). Yet, if you actually use it, you know that it shreds them to pieces.

There's definitely something going on that's not viewable in the .ini file. I would love for a dev to clarify, as I'm at a loss as to what it would be. We already got completely blindsighted by the 8-pellet shotgun info (which we would have no way of figuring out on our own), so maybe there's something more to it.

It isn't worth it unless you prefer your squadmate's to spray bullets rather than burst them. I think the Tempest is a better gun in the hands of AI honestly, but it is an option opposed to the Avenger (in my experience).

However it does look really weird on all the character models. It hangs lower on your back than any other gun.

Personally, I love this rifle.

I choose this over the Collector AR, and the Avenger AR.

I have Inferno Ammo with it and i usually shoot in bursts. Personally, i think it does greater damage, but then again, that's just me. It's all opinion.

What's better on insanity? The Geth Pulse Rifle or the M8 or M15.

I went through insanity with the GPR + AP Ammo and had no problems. Note that I was a soldier and had the Widow to back me up against tough armored foes. Still, I find that it works fine on my Vanguard.

It's between the Geth Pulse and the M15. Geth Pulse picks up so much ammo for each thermal clip, but M15 has punch and accuracy over all other assault rifles. The M8 is just average.

Well I haven't gotten that yet nor have I started an Insanity playthrough, I always end up starting it on normal, is it true there's no checkpoints on Insanity?

What do you mean by checkpoints? Autosave works the same as it always does, if that's what you mean.

Good, because I'll probably always die, how long should it take to beat it if you're a level 30 soldier that's kind of a mass effect noob? Should I do all the loyalty missions or just try to beat the missions like the Reaper IFF as soon as they are available.

If you're looking to just get the achievement, just do the loyalty quests for the people that you'll actually use (Samara's and Thane's don't entail any fighting and are extremely useful for the last level).

It took me 20 hours to finish my soldier insanity playthrough (not counting death times, of course), but I did all of the loyalty quests except or legion's and did a bunch of sidequests as well.

Once you start getting the hang of how the enemy AI works, the difficulty goes way down.

I wasn't impressed with the pulse rifle except for its ability to strip shields. It felt like you needed to keep the stream of bullets focused on an opponent to really do any damage. The other rifles fired more in bursts and handled opponents weaving in and out of cover better.

great rifle for an Engineer with AI hack and dominate. once their shield is down, you take over.

Logically it should be. I know what the chart says but what's the sense in having a weapon you can only get on Hardcore or Insanity and have it suck? Though by the same token what's the point of the CE Rilfe if the Vindicator is better.

wait, so you have to be playing hardcore all the way to tali's mission or you can just change it to hardcore before starting and then find it that way? I hope so, lol. I play reaaaaally badly because I frankly don't care too much if i get shot. My playstyle: Vanguard. I charge, pump a few from the shotgun, let shields regenerate, repeat. But on my second playthrough, I'm def gonna grab an assault rifle on the collector ship. I need something besides a shotgun and flamethrower. :D

Just for the mission.  You might need to have it set to hardcore and then restart the mission; but if you do it will show up.  Having played on Veteran, Hardcore and Insanity, I think hardcore is the most entertaining anyway although it can get a little easy once you get a lot of upgrades and I have to admit some of the tricks Insanity throws at you during the boss fights are really cool (the boss fight in Samara's recruitment mission is much different on Insanity).

Hm, I was not aware of the altered boss fights. I've never really been one to play stuff on the hardest possible difficulty unless I'm with friends because then our epic instafails are just hilarious. I play simply for fun and RP purposes, so usually I'm on normal or easy. Fun, normal. RP, easy.
