Ok so I have played through with a nice soldier, and decided to give my favorite ME 1 class a run through...
I have gotten archangel and the scientist, and the merc. and I have come to the utter conclusion that BW has ruined the vanguard class completely.

Shockwave is horrible, Charge is utterly pointless, Pull is the only real decent power... Its ashome that there is no Throw or lift anymore... or at least warp.... (for vanguard)
I mean they already gimped the class with the crappy ammo system, and by making weapons so underpowered, but hell they even get gimmped on the kinds of weapons available.

I am truely disappointed in BW by how badly they trashed the vanguard class... and honestly, after looking through the game guide, the other classes also look like utter garbage.
This, along with the other bad points,  really makes me question if I will even be interested in ME3.
Unless BW makes ME3 back along the lines of the original, (removing the crappo system, adding inventory, adding the stuff that made ME a great game) making it more RPG again then shooter, because if ME 3 is just more of the same as ME 2, then I'm out. Forget it. Not wasting money on it.

BW needs to stick with rpg games. Stop trying to blend them and make them more something else then rpg. there are already to many crap games being released, alot from EA, BW needs to maintain the high quality RPG's they are known for instead of making cross breed rpgs that are way lite on rpg and heavy on other aspecs....

You obviously missed the premise of the vanguard class. Sorry. Go check out the class forums, there are vids of vanguards on insanity along with suggested builds. Played correctly, they can be incredibly fun, but they are certainly less straightforward than some of the other classes available, especially on higher difficulties.



In short, it's not the class that's broken.

Whats the point of up close and personal when things dont die, group up on you and then the stupid red makes it almost impossible to find cover and when after a few shots your sol because you gotta try and reload yet at least half the time if you get hit, it stops the action....



Its a horrible class now. Infact... I dont even think I am going to finish that playthrough due to how bad the class is now.

Its not fun nor is it kool. Its been turned to utter garbage.

I don't think they "ruined" the class. But vanguard did go from debatably the most overpowered to debtably the most unerpowered. I think it's just some kind of a system shock to those used to having god mode vanguards.

Hahaha. You might want to check out how other people are doing it if you're having such a hard time. I finished Insanity quite easily with my Vanguard. Just because you can't do it doesn't mean everyone else can't.

Actually Adept in ME 1 was clearly the most overpowered class. Nothing could touch you. You only died on Insanity if you took dumb risks by being arrogant, which I often did. Otherwise, you could lock down a room and laugh as even the strongest enemies were frozen/floating/weakened.

Bad choice! That's just terrible. Show some involving multiple opponents. I think the AverageGatsby might have some. Not sinosleep. No offense, but his play style is just full of holes.

If you think Vanguard is weak, or "Weaker" in any way, you just suck at playing the game. It's different, your "Warp and hold trigger" Strats won't work anymore. Learn you some books and then come back and complain.



Infiltrator is the new Cheap class though. One shot kill (On insanity) rifle with slowtime. And it's not like there's even any enemy snipers in the game to countersnipe you.

Just because you suck at it, doesn't mean Vanguard sucks. I completed ME2 on Hardcore with a Vanguard (Heavy Charge is really useful)
