Well to be fair shockwave is situational, charge is useful only if you're using Claymore or the Eviscerator, pull serves pretty much the same purpose as shockwave, and inferno is a crappy version of ap on insanity.  Yes he exagerated.  However again he does have some valid concerns and I very much hope that a mod wasn't an ass and changed the title.

I play on insanity, I use charge all the time, and I use the SCIMITAR in all my vids bar one where I was just showing doubters that the claymore could, in fact, one shot things on insanity, so that seconds claim is incorrect. I agree about shockwave, but as you said he exaggerated. Area pull is HIGHLY underrated is can be extremely useful on insanity due to it's obscenely short CD time, and IMO inferno ammo is far and away superior when it comes to a vanguard. You lose some less than 10% in damage and get an area CC out of it. In more than one of my vids I charge into groups of 2 or 3 and have set all of them on fire (so they can't shoot me) simply by shooting the first guy. So yeah, I'm going to stick to the OP being a bunch of baseless accusations and insults thrown bioware's way. Frankly, if someone is going to dish it out, than I would hope they would be man enough to take it. Changing the OP would be a funny way to send a little F U right back at the OP.

Only problem with Vanguard is that sometimes charge won't activate even though the enemy is standing right in front of you, with no obstructions.

Yep this is pretty much the only thing i die from anymore as a vanguard unless i screw up bad (i only play on insanity).

Ok so I have played through with a nice soldier, and decided to give my favorite ME 1 class a run through...
I have gotten archangel and the scientist, and the merc. and I have come to the utter conclusion that BW has ruined the vanguard class completely.

hmm, were you recruiting the convict or the warlord when you decided to write this post?

Vanguard's fine. In fact, it's better than fine. It kicks abhorrent amounts of ass.

Area pull and shockwave serve the same purpose.  Area pull is somewhat superior in this regard. If you're using the inferno as cc then yea it would be superior but for straight up damage then ap wins.  I would love to see someone do a live playthrough trying to charge with the Scimitar.  Again it's the OP's right to have an opinion on a forum whether that opinion is valid and based in fact is another story.  There are problems with the Vanguard class but it is playable.

Area pull has a quicker cool down than shockwave does, it's also easier to aim and quicker to get to it's target. It's also a perfect set up for warp explosions with Thane or Miranda. Basically, I think it's better in every possible way.

And again, every last vid I have posted online bar one was made charging with the scimitar. Here is the entirety of Garrus' loyalty mission in one long cut using the scimitar as my primary weapon. Switched to the sniper rifle for the YMIRs and the guys I couldn't charge, just left it on in that room for the robots when I could have charged. Plenty of mistakes in that vid, and could make a far superior version but whatever.

It seems the impact of the shotgun is a lifesaver moreso than the damage itself.

You call that OP mostly justified? It's nothing but a bunch of baseless accusations and barbs thrown bioware's way. Sure he's entitled to his opinion, but justified? Please.

Although honestly I doubt he did. I've seen stuff like that on other forums, but never on an "official" forum. Either way, I think it's funny.

Well I can tell you I sure as hell did not change it and if it was a mod then I will be reporting him to Chris!

I've been saying that for a long time now. The shotgun staggers all the time, add that to incendiary ammo setting guys on fire, and add to that that it's an area effect and you have a very potent combo. Not to mention that it's not as if it takes the scimitar 9 shots to kill the average mob. Even at level 30 like I am in my suicide run vids, I killed most collectors from full barrier in 3 shots if I stayed in melee range. Considering the rate of fire, that's not exactly a long time.

Fair enough, although they do just take a dump on you with the bubble.

As for the mod, I'm pretty dissappointed in javier as that is child like behavior.

Yeah, those are also the worst possible guys I could have been fighting. They are immune to fire effects, although luckily they still stagger and they aren't all that common really. Organic enemies must outnumber synthetic ones by a pretty large amount in this game.

Oh and javier, FYI I know how to play the god damn vanguard, but to me it plays like ****!

BW ruined Vanguard, And I dont care if you agree or not, in my eyes they took what was a great class in ME 1 and took a big warm wet **** on the class.

Dude, seriously, you should really learn how to play the game until you say something sucks...

I could go into a large rant about how nobody cares, but it's easier to keep it short and sweet...

Nobody cares and your incessant ****ing means nothing, if you hate the class, don't play it. If you hate the game don't play it.

Okay, bye.

does not equal "BW ruined the Vanguard class!"

if you want to post constructive criticism, even if you intended to make constructive points in this thread, consider that naming your thread some hyperbolic claim of "ruin" will resuilt in basic troll bait.

you have an opinion and a perspective, but just because the class is "ruined" for you does not mean the class is ruined, as it brings joy and success to many players.

Cry more.

No, seriously. Vanguards are like the second most popular class here after Infiltrators.

The solution to this is a power tree similar to the spells in Dragon Age or any skill tree in which you can pick which powers are the most useful for you.

Edit:Popularity also doesn't mean good.

 "Shockwave is horrible"

Right there i stopped and questioned your judgement. Shock wave is awesome.

Vanguard is powerful, if you know how to play around with charge and shockwave. As a Vangard i wouldn't start using pull, well maybe if i do a combo of pull(team mate)/charge.

I also that the hardest thing in the game (game mode insane) is all the bits with the husks. Area effect charge and wider shockwave makes that abit "easier".

However the improved charge with the slowmotion, is abit short (would like to get off two shots with 22.evi shotgun).

It means "good enough to not post a thread whining about it."

I really feel that the only "problem" is that some of the classes in ME2 - namely Vanguard and Adept - play vastly differently than they did in ME1. "Problem" because of a lot of the new mechanics being introduced in ME2: defenses, global cooldowns, etc.

Can't say they're massively underpowered, though, since ThatAverageGatsby has shown us how awesome Adepts can be, and there are quite a few skilled Vanguard players out there as well.

Area pull makes Husk encounters a joke. Pull, (or anything that will launch them off their feet really, throw works just as well) insta-kills them. So all you have to do is bring along Mordin cast incineration blast, follow it up with area pull and you get 3 dead husks in about 2 seconds. If you want to do it yourself it's nothing more than 2 carnifex shots a piece, followed by area pull, more dead husks. Shockwave can work in a similar fashion but area pull is easier to aim, and has a quicker cool down (sub 3 seconds fully upgraded) making it the better choice.

yeah imo one thing you cannot claim is that the vanguard is weak or lacks tactical advantage. they are challenging to play but it is a twitch based skill. hence why people say if you are not succeeding then you are skilled enough to be successful. it is twitch and reactionary. you must react or die, kill or be killed that is your only measure of success. high-risk-high-reward.

If you're a vanguard and you aren't using a shotgun, you're doing something wrong.
