Did anyone else find this extremely strange? The batarians exiled themselves and are no longer a part of council space. They don't answer to council law and the council has no power over them so why in the heck would they sue the council? The council can't use legal means to inhibit the batarians slavery practices and the batarians know it. WHY Sue the council?! It makes no sense!

It might be because Alliance and Council fleets have a habit of disrupting the operations of Batarian slavers though. The Batarians know they don't have the fire power to fight back in a militaristic sense, so they try to go through more 'benign' channels to get their way - using the Council's legal system to their advantage.
That said though I doubt the suit will actually settle in the Batarian's favor, especially since they have a nasty habit of dragging other species into their 'cultural' practices.

But as outsiders of Citadel Space they have no rights beyond the basic rights of sentient species. It's like those illegal aliens who are suing some texan because he was a little harsh. They don't have the same rights as a citizen does.

yeah I was wondering the same thing, they dont want anything to do with the council yet they are suing them for banning slave trade? They just want to cause trouble with citadel space in anyway they can.

I can't help but think that may inflame matters ever so slightly. But anyway, I think it all comes down to this simple truth: Batarians are tossers.
