And now for the REAL diary of the Turian Councilor.

Monday: Heard of a human delicacy I wanted to try, but I cannot find it on the Citadel. I wanted to try those waffles. Also, Shepard came in and said stuff about Reapers, but I was too busy thinking about waffles. Not sure what I said. Why are there no waffles?

Tuesday: Anderson said something about Horizon something something Collectors. I asked him about waffles. The comm link was accidentally cut off again. I thought we'd fixed that after it kept happening with the first Normandy. We'd even added color to the hologram. I'll go down to the Wards and ask around about waffles.

Wednesday: Still haven't had waffles. Heard a report one of our patrols has not returned. Maybe they found waffles. Their last message was garbled and said something about Collectors. Maybe they collect waffles. Have to investigate further.

Thursday. No waffles in the Wards. Tried another human delicacy called Ramen. I hope waffles are better than Ramen. Oh, and Shepard got sucked into the Omega-4 Relay. Good riddance.

Friday: Why are there no waffles?

Interesting.

Denial is the Council's best defense, though. They oversee much of the galaxy and they can't take action because a couple of people say that the galaxy is ending. After all, they did believe they won the 'Geth' attack on the Citadel, and that was it. No long war.

It would be like proclaiming the end of the world after a large earthquake. It's next to impossible and hard to fathom, but the slight possibility is always there.

For some reason that entry reminded me of the XKCD comic:

Ah, yes, interesting plot ideas. Something that makes sense and also makes us not look like complete idiots. We have dismissed that claim.

Amazing short fic. I can only hope that's some of what's going on inside the Council's collective head.

If only. That would make ME2's main plot magnitudes more palatable. Kudos to you, good sir.

Nah, the council is far too stupid to be thinking stuff like that.

Sure hope that's what was going on. Because what appears to be in ME2 makes sense only if you assume the Council are a bunch of morons or are lying.

As much as i'd like to believe that the Council isn't as obtuse as they appear to be, I doubt they're deliberately trying to keep Shepard out of the loop.

And I don't care for any justifications for the airquotes, that Turian is still getting a smack in the chops when that little red star appears on screen

But it was still a highly interesting and detailed read, so many kudos to the OP! :D

"Anderson also said the "air quotes" might have been going too far"

Hilarious ! And some of it is pretty clever.

Read 'Mass Effect: Revelation'. It portrays the council in a different light, they aren't as stupid as they appear.

Hmmm...

Finally somebody was able to see picture behind picture.

I really fail to understand why so many people don't want to accept fact that Shepard is cut off from any vital information about Alliance and the Council because he/she "work" for organization
OFFICIALLY MARK AS TERRORIST GROUP!! (it's like supply somebody who is working for Al Queda whit strategic data about Coalition troops movement in Afganistan)

Until Shepard will prove that his/her ties whit Timmy are over he/she will be kept in dark over Alliance/Citadel plans.
I only hope that ME 3 will give us chance to go back to Alliance and regain again thier trust.

And this is a video game, not real life.

But anyway. If the council's actions were because of something like this, I'd be happy. As fun as it would be to say 'I told you so' to the turian, it's not particularly a moment of win for me.

They aren't now, but gender discrimination has been dropping relatively quickly. Fifty years ago a woman at West Point would have been *unthinkable*.

1975: President Ford signs legislation opening the service academies to women applicants.
1976: 119 women become the first women cadets at West Point when they join the class of 1980.
2010: 225 female cadets are attending the class of 2011.

This is a great read and there is some truth to that this is what they could be doing. If you read the books (especially the one about Anderson) you'll see that the council is indeed very cunning, I won't spoil it but the Amassador before Udina was taught exactly how the council works and became afraid she'd start seconding guessing herself from that point forward.

In looking over them I see that they play good cop/bad cop/Salarian a lot. The fact that we want to kill the Taurian is just an example of this in work. If EDI decides that she is really on Shep's team and Shep really does severe ties from TIM then the Council would get some really good information on Cerberus.

Lets hope this is the case and not my other fear, they are being brainwashed by the Citadel/Keepers.

Nice ideas and presentation. While I don't think the likelihood of them writing ME3 that way is high, I honestly hope that they do. It would be refreshing to not have almost everyone besides Shepard be utterly oblivious and inept.

It would really be nice if the council wasn't was inept as they let on. I may not like their behavior but the overwhelming threat of the Reapers makes stuff like that insignificant.

An unlike a previous poster, I don't think BioWare is incapable of a twist like this. This thread has raised my expectations. I will be disappointed if something like this doesn't happen in ME3.

Well done, but I think that the ah yes, "Reapers" line of the Turian councillor is a bit much just to stop Cerberus from knowing their plans. They don't have to totally deny the existence of the threat to do so. They could acknowledge it but still refuse to tell Shepard their plans due to her Cerberus association. That would also imply that she would be welcome to return once those associations are gone. Plus, if Cerberus wanted to know about the council's galactic-wide attempt to defeat the greatest threat ever known... I'm sure they'd find a way.
