How Shields Function (or rather... don't function: Bug List)

I've beaten the game w/ 4 diff classes on Insanity, and I've been testing some stats for the hell of it.
Health seems to be working as intended... but shields are buggy. I'll first explain how they should work, then explain how they don't work.
First, everyone (squadmates + Shepard) has 250 shields/barrier. The only character that is different is Grunt, who has armor and 300 of it. (Grunt also starts with 300 base health instead of 200).
Next, every time you use any shield giving powers, whether it's Tech Armor, Fort, Barrier, Geth Shield, or Charge, you ONLY get more shields/barriers, depending on which class you are. Fort does not give you armor. There is no weapon in the game that deals more damage to shields than barrier or vice versa, so it really doesn't matter. However, there are weapons enemies use which deal more damage to shields than armor (in fact, MOST enemy weapons are like this). This nullifies the one potential advantage Fort was supposed to have. It also means Grunt is an even better tank than his #s would make you think.
Each of these stacks on top of each other, the base value that's being modified is always the 250. Armor pieces work the same way. It's all separate. i.e. If I use Barrier, then Charge, the Charge +100% still only gives me 250 barrier... and if I get hurt, it will only ever replenish it's own 250 barrier. Each item is separate.
Now: Bugs that REALLY should not be there. They're really obvious and basic. Devs?
1. Damage Protection's +shields/armor/barriers DO NOT WORK for squadmates. This means you're missing +125 shields on each of your squadmates, and +150 on Grunt. This problem was actually brought up in these forums before, but ignored... I'm pretty sure. http://social.biowar...942168/1#972041. It's a pretty big problem, and I'd like to see it fixed.
2. Mordin for some reason is exempt from this. As soon as you put 1 point into his class skill, the shield bonuses will be added. This makes him extra powerful for now in comparison to other squadmates.
3. Ok, I lied. Damage Protection does work, BUT it gets deleted each time you go through any transition. A quicksave + reload will fix this problem... but this means you have to save + reload every new area you get to. This is a pain, and breaks up immersion in the game. Fix this please.
4. Legion's +50% shield upgrade "Geth Shield" only gives +100 shields instead of +125 as it should. (+50 for each upgrade instead of +62.5). Give him the extra +25 shields. Bad math bothers me.
This stuff actually affects the gameplay itself, it's not just a stuck in environment thing (which happen frequently enough to be annoying). I really hope this gets fixed.

Just want to know that Bioware knows there's something wrong here... and that the fix is most likely an incredibly simple one.

Yeah, but it would take effort to develop the patch and then effort to distribute it for PC and xbox. I don't think they'll go through the trouble.

How do you go about doing that anyway? Is there a thread for bug lists? Do I e-mail someone? Do I just have to keep bumping this thread until a Dev says "we're working on it"?

Now that you mention it, I don't think Mordin has ever died on me.
I can verfiy that.
Mordin was taking on two Krogans on his loyalty mission and was dieing slower compared to Zaeed. Not accounting any class power.

I sort of see your point if your right and it's not working as intended, however, my point is this, we have already beaten the game on it's hardest level as is, why make it easier?

Where are you getting these numbers from? Second point, in your first paragraph you stated you beat the game with 4 different classes on Insanity, the hardest difficulty level. I too play on insanity now and can and have beat the game several times. So what's the problem? I never noticed any of this but I will admit I wasn't looking for it either. Are you asking for the shield to work and make the game even easier? I assumed they worked. If they don't and we are beating the game on insanity what then? It will be too easy won't it?

When you enter a hub world or start a mission, your squadmates don' t get shield bonuses. That number should be the same Shepard has while on the Normandy (bonuses from whatever armor he/she is wearing don't apply there.)
Quicksave, quickload "fixes" the problem. The only exception is Mordin (if he has at least 1 point in his passive). He always gets the right number .
It doesn't matter how many times we've beaten the game on insanity. Many people find that level too hard. But that's not the point. It's a bug and it should be fixed, IMO. If you feel the game is too easy, well, don't upgrade.

Bugs like this should be fixed. If you want to make the game harder for yourself, don't research upgrades then. Whenever I spend the resources to get an upgrade, I expect it to work as written. Fix this Bioware.

Does anyone knows if the same thing happens with the extra Damage Protection upgrades - Hard Shields and Redundant Generator?
Those two upgrades are only meant for Shepard. And neither add more shield points.
Hard shields, I really think it works. For instance, my assault sentinel, when running towards enemies, I have the strong impression he can get closer to his target when the tech armor explodes. That means shields taking less damage.
Redundant field generator works too. But I hardly notice it. Maybe I'm not paying attention when it does work....

Good point to try this with a Sentinel - something like Hard Shields should be noticeable. I going to test this. I have noticed that Shep's shield sometimes recharges almost immediately and I don't die very often so that should work too without having to reload.

I think Mordin has died on me once in all my playthroughs. In comparison, the other squaddies average one death every mission depending on the difficulty. Which is ok, but I go out of my way to take care of my squaddies.
