Perhaps a Vorcha which had adapted to be more intelligent (possibly through artificial means) and Batarians couldn't just be ruled out even if your a paragon simply because you've fought them before otherwise nobody would ever play with Legion either.

Good point - but Shepard doesn't have the same emotional ties with the geth as the batarians (not to mention one tried to poison him too). Tali working with Legion is a small miracle however. Given a choice, I would never let a batarian or vorcha onto Normandy. So tell me what would make Shepard trust batarians? And a renegade Shepard? There we would probably see the first real use of an airlock...

The thing is, if ME3 really does involve (as many people suspect) trying to gather allies to prepare for The Reapers, then The Batarians may be one race that Shepard has to help get on-side. And while most batarians are violent anti-human thugs, not all of them have come across that way (for example, the batarian who takes you to the rendezvous point on the mission Dossier: Archangel. He doesn't say anything nasty about humans, tells you what the deal is, offers some advice and even compliments you that you look like somebody who can take care of yourself.)

Rachni Queen comes to your aid. Oh dear god that would be tight.

At least give me something for letting you start anew, don't just talk to me through some asari.

I think they could squeeze in the Vorcha squadmate wherein they can be recruited through special means like if you're Shep was mainly renegade you can intimidate the hell out of it then it joins otherwise, it doesn't. If you become more Paragon, it leaves. Similar to Dragon Age: Origins where certain companions leave if you do a particular action like Wynn leaves if you choose a 'renegade' path during one of the missions.

I also would like a Varren squaddie hehehe. It can sleep next to Grunt :D

I think the Batarian model does need some work. They look way too much like human who are just wearing halloween masks.

Yeah... I've had enough of these badass humans and femme-fatale Asari squad members, and a couple token others.

1) Volus Biotic, on power-enhancing drugs. Comedy, deluded, compensates for hindrances with biotics, oddly useful, but still annoying as heck to talk to.

2) Batarain badash. Like Zaeed, basically, but a Batarian. Hates his own people even, that'd be crazy hot. Alternately, go really against hype and make him a pacifist Engineer.

3) Female Turian. Cuz it's about time. If you can find a way to make them hot, even better. Make her a crazy warrior chick. Gotta love those.

4) Not really possible, but a VI Squadmate would be interesting.

5) The Last Prothean... would be epic. The story almost writes itself at this point. Could turn out to be the main baddie (aside from, y'know, the Reapers), making it even more epically delicious.

6) Vorcha would be fun, as simple minded as they are, having one devoted to you via some means could be more than a little bit interesting. It'd be like having a pet that can actually talk. "Don't pee on that! Bad Vorcha!" Then chain him up in the cargo bay. "Stay. Stay."

I think having that squad available, and then your humans for face time and your Asari for... what Asari bring would be incredible, both from a gameplay and storyline angle.

Elcor. They are seriously underestimated for some reason. Originating from very high gravity world implies that they have extremely strong bones and very well developed muscles, so an Elcor, especially when equipped with a set of armor and kinetic barriers, would be extremely hard and tough to kill.

And in close combat they should be able to overpower and tear up even Krogan. Plus, the Codex explains that Elcor warriors are pretty much walking batteries of heavy weapons "typically mounted on Alliance fighting vehicles"'. Not exactly suitable for the original, but with Mass Effect 2's heavy weapon system, it could work. Plus it would be great to hear an Elcor in battle - the closest to an HK-47 we'll get outside of KotOR.

I also second a Batarian, provided he's not some tragic wimp who's willing to lick Shepard's shoes and praise the mighty and virtuous human society... Who do people always want aliens who praise humanity?

A patriotic, yet pragmatic (i.e. not a mass murderer or psychopath) Batarian who works with humans only for the common goal of defeating the Reapers would be great.

I think that a Volus could be implemented quite well as a ship-mate as a replacement for ME1's requisitions officer. As long as they gave sufficient dialogue to flesh out the character in a similar manner as they have done for other non-squad members (e.g. Joker, Chakwas), it could be quite an interesting way to have more diverse racial representation without contrived reasons for a fighting Volus.

I agree with Burdokva about the Batarian member, as it would be interesting to have a squad member pragmatically orientated in this manner rather than the more personal reasons other join you for (hero worship, saving their life, being in charge of your return to life, and so on). Further, we know that the Batarians we have encountered are not standard for their species internal to their society on the homeworld.

The last surviving Prothean would be a teeny bit contrived and cliche, though.

Battle Elcor vs YMIR mech! GO!

Volus hacker/shopkeeper - at last, someone to rival Shepard for the affection of every Asari in known space! Plus, I want to see my femShep squeeze a Volus.

Batarians - No. Just. No.

Hanar field medic or something would be cool. They could fix Garrus' face finally.

I repeat myself: A rachni, but only if you spared the queen in ME1. Those things have such great potential for character development, as the only ones you ever fight are mindless hostiles.

I'm going to go against everyone else and simply say no. The sentient races we have on the team are good enough, and the amount of aliens is also good enough. However, if we are going to put in bunkbeds in order to acommodate more people, I would like more of the ones we alreay have - humans, asari, drell, you know them all. Because, let's face it, the sentient races available that are not in the team are mostly a) useless or B) not interesting enough:

Hanar - can't use guns. In a game where combat is so important, a non-shooting team mate is just baggage.
Volus - too small, too slow, to fragile. One rip to their suit and they die - they are even worse than quarians.
Vorcha - could possibly work, but they are not interesting enough. They are cannon fodder, and as such they have no place in a high-risk combat unit as Shepard's team actually is.
Batarian - could work, but would be quite boring - another human model but with an alien head - yaawn. Besides, since the batarians are in much slave traders I doubt many Shepards would want one on their team - my Shep would certainly not having fought them off at the Blitz, had his parents taken by batarian slave hunters on Mindoir and seeing what they tried to do with a certain asteroid. As paragon as he is, I doubt he would see the batarians as much more than target practice.

Umm, mind bullets? Why do they need guns? :o

The Elcor bouncer on Omega seems like a total badass to me.

I forgot the elcor in that post - shows how much I care about them... Elcor seems to be amiable enough, but they are too slow and way too large targets. Shepard is leading a badass commando team, not a cirkus. Why they decided they would have a bouncer elcor is to me a mystery, but I guess someone wanted to break up the area with a sentient that is not bipedal.

The same goes for rachni - can't use guns and were slaughtered in heaps. I don't give much for their combat abilities unless there is ahorde of them. And, they can't communicate properly with others. As I said, IF we are going to get new team members, please keep it to the races and species we know and that can actually make a difference.

I hope I wasn't the only person to think of Anachronox just then. Can we have a miniaturised planet, too?
