Basically I am wondering if you can play Awakening without having finished Origins?
For instance, if you start a new character, do you have to play through Origins again before being able to play the Awakening content? I am worried because I have used a few mods in my Dragon Age: Origins and I might have to reinstall when Awakening is out, but I would cry if I had to play through the game again before being able to see Awakening content.
What actually happens if you start an Orlesian (spelling, sorry) Grey Warden? Do you still need to do the Origin stuff, or is there Awakening content that will get you from lvl 1 and upwards?
I hope these questions are not stupid, I just honestly have not been able to find any information on it.

Yes, however, based on their past history, you may want to rebuild the mod after the newest release to gain certain fixes or patches. For example back in the NWN days, I had a mod I built for NWN - SOTU, while the module would work perfectly fine with NWN - HOTU, by rebuilding it against the patches applied by HOTU, I was able to gain some performance boosts and fixed a few issues.but I'm curious whether the Dragon Age Toolset will work with the new release? That may be a stupid question.

To add additional content to the original story could ( and would most likely) ruin the continuity of the storyline.
Which is why so many older RPGs had no problems adding new content such as character classes or spells back into the original campaign.
Is that really too much to ask for? Without rubbish excuses such as "BALANCE" as Origins "balance" is already borked? Adding new toys to the old content is pretty much one of the definitions of what a typical, well done x-pack does.

It's clear thankyou. From what I understand, this means it does override Origins.. it overrides the program, not the save files..
That's... not so good...
Awakening doesn't override Origins. It expands Origins. That's what an expansion pack does.
From what I have read it does not 'expand origins' at all if you think about it. You can not use ANYTHING from Awakening in Origins and you can't take any DLC with you nor can you travel between lands. Please tell me how this is 'expanding origins'? I have said this in another thread and I say it again --It is a mini-game tagged onto the end of Origins for money!!! They could have released this as DA:2 and nobody would have been the wiser since it doesn't react with DA:O in ANY way other than being able to import a character........

I will add another stupid question to the thread, as I don't want to start my own.

Yes you can. You can import any character from Origins (of any level), or start a new warden from Orlais, either way you start Awakenngs around level 18.
