Wait, so you're saying PAL games on disc won't run in the States? I have imported quite a bit of games from Europe and Japan with no issues. Perhaps I've gotten lucky.

Even though Awakenings is an expansion, it should work. Perhaps you can wait for feedback from users before. Still--downloading the DLC would be something I would be all about if I lived out there. Hard drive space is cheap and having games run fully off your hd makes things more efficient whilst putting less stress on your PS3 drive.

just goes to show when you dont look at this forum every day it all kicks off!!! Glad its finally coming out but the date is a bit sucky. Oh well, I will probably still get it but this has not given me a lot of faith in future PS3 downloads from bioware, and as awakenings is the next one I'll not get my hopes up for it coming out at the right time!

Not sure why it would take this long but oh well. I thought at first we may not even get it it was taking so long, but thank God we do. Can't wait for it as well as Awakening. Though I may miss GoW3 for the time being, I won't mind thanks to DA

PS3 blu rays are region free. So entire, independent retail games are region free. PSN is region locked, so the content that you access on PSN is tied to a region. You can still buy an entire PSN game and play it, but you cannot buy the JP version of 1 minute hero and then use the NA version DLC on it.

So since it seems Awakenings will run off the Origins disc (probably installing onto your ps3 first), then you would need to have the same region of both.

If Awakenings runs off the Awakenings disc itself, it would be possible to play it from any region, but if you are importing a save, there is a chance that the format would be incompatible.

You should wait and see until we get more details on how it will work and the compatibility.

I have to agree with everyone who said that this is crap. With a five dollar, limitted content release like RtO that will take maybe two hours at best to play all the way through taking THREE MONTHS longer than PC and 360 to get released? Putting it out just before the expansion is WAY too little, WAY too late. Throw something in to sweeten the deal, because I'm getting tired of PS3 getting crapped on. Bethesda did the same thing with Fallout 3, NO DLC at all for the PS3 until all of a sudden, game of the year editions were on shelves, and ALL the expansions were released, all costing the full ten bucks a pop. I was avid for those expansions... like, a year ago, when I beat the game. Needless to say, I didn't buy them, and I'm not sure I'll buy this. There's lots of other games I could be playing.

Seriously. I've no idea what reason there is for why something so small would take three months, but I do not define an announcement that says "Wait about ANOTHER month" as the 'Coming Soon!' I kept hearing. At least say WHY it's taking so long. Then, at least, I could be sympathetic, rather than assuming it had more to do with incompetance or negligence for the fact that PS3 playership is the smallest population of the three platforms it's available for. Seriously, Bioware, if you wanna save face, make us a deal, like, giving us this DLC free or something if we buy The Awakening within the first week of it's release. It already took you that much time, and you did something similar with the original release of DAO. You might as well throw us that bone.

Crumbs!!! I was kinda attached to those, and the cheese knife...and a few other things..Ya'd think that they would port that stuff since we bothered to buy the DLC in the first place!:(

I believe Victor or another BioWare rep mentioned that they intend to include DLC in Awakenings in a future patch. I may try to find the post where that is stated.
P.S. Judge, I haven't forgotten about you, just been busy.

Not sure why there's so much hate. I mean, a month delay from the PC/360 version (of a DLC of all things) and some of you are acting like children over it.

Awakenings is the first official expansion and it's hitting all three platforms (if you can call PC a platform) on the same day. If you have a major issue with the digital-only approach that Europe has on Awakening, then import the US version of the expansion from any number of sites (Gamestop, Amazon, etc.). No region coding. Problem solved.

You don't understand why people react this way?! I bet you would if it affected you. For whatever reason (I know the reason. Don't lecture me), the PS3 version was the only version that was delayed, which could be interpreted as PS3 owners are not as important as PC and 360. To put salt in the wound they extend the delay even further. I am personally not very emotional about it since I lost interest in buying it 2 weeks after release and reading comments from PC and 360 users. But I do develop irritation when certain parties are ignored. If this had affected 360 users instead I'd feel for them without calling them childish. If it affected PC... I'd laugh my bum off since THAT would be completely new. :P

For crying out loud...

Do any of you seriously think they have taken an indifferent attitude toward ANY segment of their customer base? Seriously?!

Does anyone believe they actually care what platform you use?

A sale is a sale is a sale.

Truth is, the xbox release was accidental. Once that happened, it was politically easier to stagger the release and please who they could. OTHERWISE, all platforms would have released on the same day as usual, based on the last platform that was ready.

They DO love making games. They also love being loved for making games. In the end, they love the money they get for making games the most.

ALL they want is happy people that like their stuff enough to spend money on it.

As for lack of communication... telling you babies anything is gas on the fire. There, I said it, babies.

AND, FYI, I am a PS3 user that has waited and waited. Disappointed, yes. Angry, no. Mostly, I feel sorry for the people that may have lost their jobs over this DLC.

1. they most certainly have.
2. they certainly do.
3. while that is true, a sale on PC/X360 is obviously more important than a PS3 sale
4. and that's what should have happened  - release RtO on ALL platforms the SAME day, regardless of whether it was ready on PC/X360 first.

I don't think Bioware fully understands how to port a game to the PS3 to put it simply, honestly.

And I think that SONY, not Bioware, had the Final decision on the release date. So all the Bioware hate might well be misplaced.

And furthermore, on the lack of communication, well.... Most PS3 players seem to have already made up their minds. Why bother? There is very little that can change a person's mind when it's already made up.

That's harsh, whether it was a mistake or a problem no one should be fired for something like this. I'm on PS3 and I was impatient but I dealt. I'm just glad this game is out for my system.

i'll wait till all my old DLC,
content is available on all new DLC,
or they won't see,
another penny from me!
All DLC is late,
and i want to communicate,
that I don't appreciate,
the very long wait.
It's put me in a vexed state,
and makes me contemplate,
if DAO really is all that great,
to make me want to further Bioware's pockets inflate.
making us second class citizens they certainly did us frustrate.
I think i'll hold onto my five,
until they stop that lower class jive,
and produce content that's timely and alive!
So to RTO,
I most certainly say "no",
Awakenings looks worth a play,
but only when with my old DLC, darkspawn I can slay!
That's about all I had to say.

I should expand my thought a little... why, i don't know. I followed all this just waiting for a release date... anyway.

"Truth is, the xbox release was accidental. Once that happened, it was politically easier to stagger the release and please who they could. OTHERWISE, all platforms would have released on the same day as usual, based on the last platform that was ready."

The reason it was easier to stagger was because the first xbox release was broken. It wasn't just the DLC, it caused problems for the main content. The people that snatched it up before it was pulled couldn't play at all. That HAD to be fixed first and at any cost.

They didn't choose to love xbox more, they were forced to right a wrong.

that still doesn't justify a 6 week discrepancy.  if both versions were submitted for certification at the same time and if both passed without any problems, the delay between X360/PC and PS3 should have been no more than 2 weeks.  the only thing i can think of that makes a lick of sense is that it failed submission on the PS3 - possibly multiple times.

i doubt very much that they waited 3 extra weeks to release RtO on the X360/PC after it had officially passed.  it should have been released immediately after the announcement that it passed on the PS3 (i.e. the next possible PSN store update).
