Here's what you don't understand:

No matter  how much you complain, it won't come out any faster.

this content could have (and should have) been released several weeks ago.  now that it has "officially" passed certification (which, in my opinion likely happened back in january shortly after it passed MS's process), this content should be out this thursday, but they continue to delay it for another 3 weeks (pretty dickish, imo).

so unless the real delay is because it actually failed its first submission process (or it failed multiple times), there's no excuse for the discrepancy.

and again, i doubt there would be very many understanding xbox owners if these delays were on their platform.

Well, I guess thats what red tape is all about.....the more certification you have to go through, the more it gets delayed...thats a given.....trust me, I work in an industry where we have to get approval for our products to be sold from our partners, there's a whole issue of compliance, approvals etc etc....since Bioware also has certain protocol to follow...some partners work faster than others, no point in telling that its a 'd!@k' move or anything......welcome to the corporate world fellow gamers, remember that they are not just game developers, but also a business organization.....so people cut them some slack, and well thanks Bioware, for creating a game that has caused sleepless nights for so many people...myself inculded......peace

This is great news! Only, the downside is that I'll have to choose between playing Dragon Age or Mass Effect 2... Such great games, too less time...

A patch, a date for RtO and a reminder about Awakenings — what more could a fellow want from Bioware? Thanks for all of that, and I look forward to once again immersing myself in the world of DAO and all of its DLC and expansions.

In the meantime, I shall continue to keep myself more than occupied with MAG, Heavy Rain and Bioshock 2.

Do we know if DAA will release for the PS3 at the same time as for PC and 360 or are we destined to more screaming from the PS3 owners getting messed about yet again?

I personally want it for the 360 but find it annoying even if it won't effect me personally. As I feel sorry for the PS3 users as far as BW/EA are behaving of late.

Just like Awakening I won't be buying this either. I love DAO but Bioware is nothing but scamers. They don't care one bit about us. Just a search for the all mighty dollar.

I'm in the opposite camp - I love Bioware and the games they do, but I don't see myself spending any more money & time on DAO in the near future. I'll probably pick up RTO if I ever give the game another full playthrough, and if I suddenly find myself with an excess of free time, I might consider Awakenings - but only if something has even been attempted to rectify the technical issues of the PS3 version...

Perhaps
the reduction in sales as a result of how this was handled will better
inform BioWare treatment of it's PS3 Users in the future.

I think a reduction in sales would only result in PC/Xbox exclusivity in the future - no matter what the reason for it is (extended development cycles due to issues with coding for Cell, Sony approvals process dragging on so long nobody cares about DLC when it comes out, or the dollar return for dollar spent just not being good enough, no matter what the reason...)

EA is unlikely to encourage exclusives. As an independent 3rd party, it is always more profitable to have multi platform, since you share the costs of conceptualizing, art, etc all the way to marketing across all and only have to invest extra on development, and that is also to a point.

This was Bioware's first dance with Sony. Next time it would be reasonable to expect things to go more smoothly.

Hopefully, since it was recently announced that some PS3 love was coming from Bioware due to the PS3 version of DA being more critically accepted than the 360 version (not trying to start a console fanboy war, straight from Bioware's mouth.)

I doubt it there are too many factors going against that result.

One factor is that this is EA they're not going to shaft potential buyers by telling them that they're not going to treat them equally, they won't even let anyone working for them do it and since Bioware is now owned by EA it won't make sense for EA to cut their install base because some users wanted to "teach" them a lesson.

I mean the amount of users who bought Dragon Age on PS3 are according to VGChartz DA:O sold 0.73mil sure those aren't Gran Turismo/Halo/Uncharted2/MassEffect2 numbers but that's still a large enough userbase for them to get money out off. By suddenly ignoring one platform it's going to create less revenue because people will just buy it on the other system or not buy it at all, EA wouldn't want the latter. The effect of more exclusivity on one platform may not hit gamers right away but it does hit gamers one way or another and when it does it sticks in the gamers head (I mean there are still people who claim that EA is the most evil company while ignoring Activision).

To BioWare,

Hey guys on the Dev. team, I would like to ask you all something. As you all said before that you all got the 360 and PC version up an running before the PS3 one, I'm fine with that, work on what your more fimilar with than the other. What I'd like to know When did you all submit the PS3 version for Cert.

I am still going to by RTO and awaking just Awaking will have to wait till I get paid again, because as I've said before FFXIII and the new Pokemon games will have rob'd me poor.

So BioWare answer my Question, When did you all submit the PS3 Version of the RTO and any big reason it is being held off till March 11th?

Great news!

I would have to admit that I'm actually far more excited for Awakenings--not to mention the contents of the update.

Hopefully some minor bug issues and minor framerate issues will be addressed with that.

I'll definitely pick up Awakenings with GoW3 on March 16th.

Thanks for keeping us posted Bioware crew.

Really? What does this entail? Have a link or quote? Always happy to have more BioWare love.

I really don't see the issue here. BioWare specifically modified the release dates of Dragon Age: Origins to ensure it would come out day-one on PS3. They are doing the same thing for Awakenings.

Are people really that up in arms because a small (roughly 90 minute) DLC will be arriving a month and some change later due to certification requirements set by Sony? The two weeks from certification approval are common as they need to be queued to get on PSN usually. Seems like an odd thing to be overly concerned with guys.
