Well its out on the 11th, end of story really. Like you all ain't just guessing what the delay was about.
This is exactly my point Ethikal: All we have is speculation.
One or all (four I am guessing) parties involved in RTO going gold for PS3 could end all the rumors speculation and three way finger pointing with a simple disclosure beyond that it is going to be made available on the 11th of March. Well actually two way as Sony and EA both laid blame on BioWare, while BioWare blamed Sony (according to transcripts of conversations provided by forum members).
What happened? Have you (the parties involved) learned things from this that will better inform your decisions in the future? As BioWare stands to lose the most if this hurts sales (either by disinterest due to the late arrival or due to customers showing their displeasure by not purchasing this DLC) it would seem to be in their best interest to keep the fans happy.
Your product is great. I truly enjoyed playing DAO. But, your level of communication on this issue could have been much better.
Your communication level with your PS3 and Mac customers could still be much improved.
Come, spend some time visiting with the PS3 and Mac customers in their respective Technical Support Forums. I don’t even own a Mac and last I checked I have as many (if not more) posts there than any BioWare Representative. In the PS3 Tech Forum, it's no contest and that's without including any of my posts there on this issue. A visit now and again would help us feel valued.
How about answering one question a week in each of the Technical Support Forums? It wouldn't take that much time, but it would earn you a great deal of appreciation from your customers. And, it would be a vast improvement in the PS3 and Mac forums over what you are currently doing.
Let our forums (the Mac and PS3) be seen by unregistered users. Browsing these forums unregistered would lead one to believe you don’t have any support options for Mac and PS3 customers. For those that have registered it still sends the wrong message, that message is that you don't want to be seen with us (Mac and PS3 customers) in public. Why? Are we all hideously ugly? The Mac customers seem very nice. They aren't even complaining much about having no DLC, let alone delayed DLC. There are PS3 customers who hand out cookies. Cookies are nice, even Sten likes them. Google's webcrawlers won't point and laugh at you for being seen with Mac and PS3 users. I promise!
Though you may not believe this or want to believe this, you can you have a great product and still lose customers. Delays are a part of the business and can be expected. Am I pleased that RTO won’t be released until March 11th? No, but I can handle that and much better now that it is a known quantity. Pardon my cliché' here: In life and business what happens to you is not something you may have any control over. How you handle what happens to you is something you can control and that is important.
So, what makes me special? What makes my opinions matter? Why is anything I say worth listening to? In my opinion it's because I am a customer.
Am I a valued customer? Well, I can honestly say I feel significantly more valued with a release date on the table and with some assurances that Awakenings will be released for PS3 at the same time it is for PC and Xbox. However as I mentioned in earlier posts, and again here, there are things that could make me feel more valued. I believe making your customers feel valued does lead to value for your company. The things I have asked for (things others here have also independently asked for) don't take a large amount of time to invest in, but I believe they are investments that will show many fine returns.
Not as a threat, boycot or ultimatum, but merely as proof of the sincerity of my requests, I will make my purchase of Awakenings and RTO contingent upon fulfilling ANY one of my above requests. Give me but one and you've got my money. It may be more punishment for me than you BioWare if you fail to oblige me on any of these points, as I have enjoyed your games and Dragon Age Orgins in particular, but less punishment for me than my words being empty to mysylph.
But honestly, I don't think it's just my money on the line.
If it were just my money, you wouldn't even recover your hourly rate reading a post this long with my purchase of RTO or maybe even Awakenings. I spend my time writing this and hope someone from BioWare spends their time reading this because I believe I am correct. I believe I am correct and that you do stand to lose sales over 'little things' like getting people excited to purchase a product and then not making it available nor telling them when it will be available for several weeks after when they thought they would have already been using the product. Even as small an issue as hiding the Mac and PS3 Tech forums is, it is little things like this that can snowball and lead customers to rethink being future customers.
