Just been wondering, but has it been said if the Orlesian Warden will be a certain race or if we will be able to choose the race ourselves? I've only skimmed over the game FAQ so apologies if this is answered in that.

This is a good question. I was wondering that myself. I don't know, but I guees yes, you will be able to choose your race. I also guess that you won't have an origin story for said race, but those are only, as I said, guesses.

Jigglypuff is a starting race, however. OP, IMO.

I'm guessing you would be able to choose as I reckon they have all sorts of races too though the dalish might be uh strange..but if you are already a warden then it's fair to say you have been yoinked out of your origin already yeah?

There are elves and humans in Orlais. Possibly a few surface dwarves here and there as Orzammar is between Orlais and Fereldan. So, likely you get to choose any of the three.

Yeah, I just recently started a Dalish Elf and noticed that Paivel mentioned there being Dalish in 'other lands' and in Orlais which got me to wondering on if we'd have a choice as far as race for the Orlesian Warden in Awakenings - I know we won't get an origin story with it though.

I'm assuming all races and classes will be open to the Orlesian Warden.

You can be an Orlesian Warden of any race -- and if you're an elf or a dwarf it doesn't really assume anything about your origins other than that you came from Orlais. If you wish to be a Dalish Elf from Orlais (of which there are plenty -- the Dales is in Orlais, after all) and not a City Elf that's up to you.

Remember that you are a Warden first and foremost before being an Orlesian. Wardens accept all races in their ranks. So all races should be open to the Orlesian Warden.

Awesome, thanks for the answer! I figured that would be the case but I just wanted to be sure. =)

French Orlesian

Alors! Please say we are going to get PC voice options with French-knight accents! All would be forgiven!

I assume the orlesian Warden will get french accents along with at least one oh-so-funny monty python and the holy grail reference which we'll have the joy of listening to over and over and over and over.

"Darkspawn sense tingling!"

So would Orlesian Wardens get "sub-Origins" to clarify initial status, or would Elven Orlesian Wardens just have Dalish tattoos available during the character creation?

...The latter would definately open some interesting doors, what with allowing for DEMOWs (Dalish Elf Mage Orlesian Wardens).

Well, with Orlesian Warden being the characters origin, I think Mr. Gaider was just saying that you can think of your Orlesian elf mage as once being dalish if you want, but not much in game will point that out.

Also, new tattoos would make Orlesian Warden interesting.

I don't care about no romances, no DLC items, as long as this is what Orlesian Grey Wardens are like.

Hmm... The Orlesian Nug background would be really quick to make. Make a little level where you run away from cleaver-wielding cooks. A total Kobayashi Maru - poor little nug is destined for the cook pot. It'd be a tear-jerker.

I thought the Orlesian Warden would be human. If you're from Orlais, you're greeted with suspicion by Fereldens, but why would this suspicion extend to you if you're say, a Dalish Elf? My impression during the game was that Dalish Elves don't really see themselves as Fereldens, but rather as part of their own sovereign community.

If you're a Noble from Orlais, I understand why you might be seen as a symbol of a time of tyranny. But why would people in Ferelden greet you with that same kind of suspicion if you're a Dalish Elf?

Question. Are there any Dwarven cities in Orlais? I thought there was only 2 cities remaining. So if the Orlesian Warden is a dwarf, where does he come from? Obviously he is a surfacer, But does he come from Orlais or from somewhere else?

Very likely. In "The Stolen Throne" (and hinted by the existance of a Dwarven area in Awakening), it's said that the Deep Roads extend under Ferelden, and I would expect them to have also gone west, so there'll also be Dwarves in Orlais :)
