I guess that would work too, but hoping he is still a squadmate ideally.

Oh, I have a question: Mordin says "Flammable, or inflammable. Can't remember which. Doesn't matter."

Thing is, my understanding of (British) English tells me that they mean the same thing; that the thing will burn. Is that true of American English as well? I'm asking because given Mordin's intellect, it doesn't really make much sense for him to not know that there is no difference between them.

I believe so. They mean the same thing in America too. Some people get confused that the word inflammable means it can't burn.  Maybe it was his attempt at a joke?

Thing is then, in normal convention when a word is prefixed with 'in' intends to mean the opposite, e.g., inescapable, inability, etc. Inflammable is an exception, but then the English language is wacky like that.

Thanks for confirming though. So it probably is a joke.

Something that Mordin didn't know? Perish the thought!

You’re welcome. :)

I’m sure there are some things Mordin doesn’t know…I mean he did think Shepard had a romantic interest in him at one point. XD

Which is hard to believe but yes, there are probably things that Mordin doesn't know. He didn't know the Collectors were Protheans (but as EDI said, no one has ever had the chance to study them so how would he) and he probably doesn't know who made the Reapers and he probably didn't know they existed until he met Shepard. I'm sure he'll learn though.

I'm sure nobody, even Mordin, would risk going through a dangerous relay or the prospect of being captured by odd aliens who ask for certain genetically-unique organisms.

And unfortunately when they did go through the relay, they had other plans. Dialogue with the Collectors really wasn't on the agenda...

Though Mordin was right on one thing: there was no art on the base.

It makes me wonder what data/samples he found on the collectors after that mission and if it would be useful.

I'm leaning towards it being a joke/sarcastic remark about the language. And not a bad one at that!

Although I have to say, I know quite a few real-world scientists, some of them very bright. There's still a lot they don't know and they say dumb things often enough. It's quite possible Mordin actually didn't know, but good luck getting him to admit that.

Offended scientist salarian in possession of human-tailored virus? Implications unpleasant.

Point taken.

But you do get the opportunity to interrupt him when he joins the squad. Not the same thing granted. But...during the game he isn't too fond of interruptions in general when you go talk to him.

And yeah, on the sex discussion when you don't have a love interest active. But...I completed my recent runthrough pursuing Kelly (as much as one can count Kelly as an interest), but Mordin doesn't mention that relationship. Mind you, he isn't the only one who misreads the situation on love, Jack does too if you're playing as a female Shepard.

Mordin seems to know a lot scientifically though. And you know what they say about geniuses.

Oh, and which do you choose when you can evolve his Salarian Scientist power: Genius or Savant? Which do you think suits him better as a character? I go for Genius myself.

I always go for aggressive squad powers. "Best defense is a good offense" works well in this game.

I also imagine it fits very well with Mordin's attitude. He's a scientific genius, but in his own words: "Lots of ways to help people. Sometimes heal patients. Sometimes execute dangerous people." If his gun doesn't work, he'll grab the nearest farming equipment.

Genius definetly suits Mordin's character. He could also slip some poison in a turian's food paste. He is quite right though, executing dangerous people is safer for people. I also like the fact he believes that the ends justify the means but yet he won't go extreme like The Illusive Man.

I agree, and he actually feels remorse for what he did to the krogan, despite thinking it was still the best decision.  That was an interesting aspect of his character, and I felt sorry for him.   :?

Exactly, that's what makes him unique. I actually think that after his loyalty mission he starts to agree that it may have been the wrong decission, which I thought was great as they made him move past the stats and look at the truth. The only person I find more interessting due to remorse is Thane. Mordin is as he says "The very model of a Scientist Salarian".

Quick, someone has gone into labor at the classic sci-fi moment of inopportunity! Is Mordin the emergency midwife? Poll

That's a good looking poll.

Mordin's morality is an interesting aspect of the character. Though the Salarian biology means it is dealt with fairly quickly compared to humans.

Although Mordin is concerned with the ends the means used to achieve it are still of concern to him. He never experimented on live subjects for instance. As I understand it, he's strongly against it. Maleon went extreme by comparison.

And Maelon actually claims Mordin taught him that! OK, Mordin does believe that the ends justify the means but at the end of the day, experimentation on living things makes them no better than the Collectors, Cerberus and even the Reapers and it's great they made Mordin like that, to warn us not to become the thing we fight against. Very clever Bioware but not as clever as Mordin lol.

No idea if this has been answered, and if it has, who cares, this thread needs a bump:

I'm trying to get the cutscene at Mordin's clinic where Shepard asks if he can speak slower and he goes "I....will...try...to....speak.....slowly....nonono, not possible" or something along those lines. Saw it in a youtube video and am now racking my brains on how to get it. Any hints?

I believe it's a renegade interrupt (or choice) during his recruitment mission.

Actually, if I remember correctly, don't do any of the interrupts, and you should get a choice asking him to speak slower.
