Anyone know who's older, Mordin or Shepard? I thought I heard somewhere that Mordin was in his 30s.

I'd go with Mordin at around 40.

40 seems a little old to me, but I guess everything is just supposition. He does seem more mature than most other salarians we meet, though.

Digging around for the answer and found this thread.

Dr. Mordin Solus is my favorite addition in ME2. Like others have said, the depth of character is amazing. Mordin has an incredibly unique personality, and I liked how his loyalty mission showed some hidden depths. It also took the chance to tackle some really 'heavy' issues of morality. Finding a video game that is willing to discuss very complicated themes such as biological experimentation is hard, but that's why I play mass effect.

I think of Mordin as being something of a foil to Liara (Liara and Wrex were my favorite ME1 characters--like Mordin, I thought they were both unique, plus the hidden depths revealed was a big bonus--I actually wanted to talk with Wrex, Liara, and Mordin after missions). Liara is quieter, reserved, very shy talking with Shepard. However, Mordin is much more confident. Of course, they both kicked ass in combat, I took Liara and Mordin to the final boss (Liara's biotics were very useful, and I wanted to be 100% certain Mordin would survive the suicide mission, so I brought him with me for the entire thing so I could protect him.). I certainly hope that they both come back for ME3

Also, Mordin's 'romance path' was hilarious.

By the way, any speculation as to how Mordin lost the tip of his right ear? Perhaps a violent encounter during some STG operation on Tuchanka? Or an infection from hazardous research? Maybe he did it to himself? For science, of course.

It's explained on the Shadow Broker DLC

23:13 - Weyrloc team arrives at agricenter and initiates close-quarters combat. Operatives Jirin and Chorel killed. Specialist Maelon and Operatives Hishau and Shenok seriously injured. Weyrloc team killed in entirety. Last member prevented from broadcasting alarm due to Specialist Solus stabbing Weyrloc guard through eye with pitchfork, sustaining injuries to face and right cranial horn in process.

Dang, I read that whole thing, but for some reason my mind never made the connection. Feeling slightly stupid now. Thanks, though!

That's pretty neat. Is that for a cosplay thing?

Looks like it. Judging by his deviant art gallery, Mass Effect cosplay is his thing.

It's almost a shame that the mouth is sealed but it's understandable considering how low on the face a Salarian's mouth is.

Ah, here is the mordin thread...

No love for mordin?

At one time he offered to 'experiment' with shepard (very romantic suggestion really).

There's a lot of love for Mordin, but doesn't seem to keep discussions going. Never really understood why....

Mordin gets a lot of really amazing dialogue, and I think his characterization is some of the best in ME2. However, in terms of overall plot relevance, Mordin is just another one of the ME2 squadmates. I think that his loyalty mission does bring up some good discussion regarding scientific ethics, however, that's a discussion that can be tapped out pretty quickly.

I hope that BioWare brings him back in ME3. I've always felt that the science-oriented characters have been very important to the overall plot. For instance, LIara has knowledge of the Protheans. Mordin developed the anti-Collector tech. Tali has her hacking knowledge.

Mordin has potential for ME3 - developing anti-Reaper technology. However, since he is killable in the suicide mission, I think that his plot relevance might be impacted by that. Mordin might be involved with some optional missions, or perhaps, if Mordin survives, then he can be used to bypass part of the main questline (because he's already developed some tech, rather then having to try and track it down).

Discussions can go on quite a while; just look at philosophy. Some of those topics go on for...a couple of thousand years. But I guess they're the more persistent types.

As for general squadmates returning...well, to import a ME2 save into ME3 we need two squadmates alive. There seems to be too many variables to afford any of them a large role in ME3, unless BioWare are saving the consequences of your actions for the final act. (Say, making a decision in ME negatively impacts your capability in ME3.)

Being biased here, Mordin could still contribute a lot; probably a bit more than the others in a general sense.

To all you mordin supporters...

When the vorcha turned off the fans... we held the line. When Clan Gultak (or whatever) threatened to eat Salarian caviar... we held the line. Even though this thread keeps falling down the forum... we will hold the line!

You all know the mission and what is at stake, I have come to trust each of you with my life, but I have also heard murmurs of discontent, I share your concerns. We are trained for espionage.......WE WOULD BE LEGENDS but the records are sealed, glory in battle is not our way……our influence stopped Saren but before that we held the line, our influence stopped the Collectors but before that we held the line, our influence will stop Mordin’s fan thread from disappearing to the second page...... in the battle today we will hold the line.

I believe that none of the potential LI's will return as full-time companions, which would bode well for the return of Mordin as a squadmate.

No second page for us, the line held.

What do you think Mordin would say, after failing to hold the line?
