I am Commander Shepard, and Dr Solus is my favorite Salarian in the whole galaxy :)

"Have killed many people, Shepard. Many methods. Gunfire, knives, drugs, tech attacks. Once with farming equipment. But not with medicine."

It's sad to see this so far back in the archives. Mordin was my favorite character too, and he has the cleverest line in all of ME2, with his "Lie of omission. Also, other kinds."

Also, he has caused Salarians to beat out Krogan for my favorite alien species.

Not enough fans to keep discussions going unfortunately.

Anyway, having finished Arrival earlier today it would seem there's a good chance he'll be in ME3 (assuming he wasn't killed in ME2 of course). If the info in that dlc is correct.

Well, how about some fan art?

http://pics.livejour...ek/pic/00195b3q

From a larger project, of course.

A thread about one of the best characters going down the pages under love interests? Unacceptable outcomes, unacceptable goals. No choice; have to bump you.

But seriously though, Mordin is a brilliant character. Probably has the most depth and roundness of any character in the series.

You are right Volus, he for sure is the secound best charakter in ME 2 close behind Tali, if I need to pick 3 persons to save the Galaxy with my Biotic Shep, they are Tali, Joker, Mordin, what else. No idea why no one seems to like the Doc. Also I need him to boost Talis immune System from time to time ^^...only for that he would have been in my top 5 ^^ and aside from that, he is so useful and cool, and I can understand his acting.

Unlike ...Jacob or...Samara...or... jeah Miranda

yeah, it's a mini-comic. Some people have asked me if I'd ever do anything with the 'Scientist Salarian' bit and while I balk at the idea of doing 'easy grab' jokes (like Calibrations -which I made an exception for-, Prize, Assuming Control, Tali face mask reveals), I figured I should just get it over with. >X]

Color me baffled as to why there's not much discussion love for Mordin. Maybe he's just a really complex character and some people just prefer to think of him as a one-liner comic character who sings? Hehe.

As I understand it, Mordin is acknowledged by the fanbase as one of the best characters (if not the best character) in the game. Yet the fans don't congregate much for discussions.

However, if my hazy memory is working correctly I think the forum rules also limit what we can discuss about the character. Certain topics like the genophage and ethics get spun into their own threads leaving out the inspiration for the initial discussion. We could also discuss Mordin specific issues relating to the bigger topics; though those rarely, if ever, have staying power.

Also, it's the love interests that get most of the attention. I don't see many non-love interests making for long threads. I don't frequent those threads much myself as they seem singularly focused on discussing how attractive the character is, and (heavy) discussions are also limited. When they do occur they are difficult to participate in.

Then there are the threads who want so-and-so to be a love interest. Last time I checked there were quite a few of those as well. I think Mordin gets left out of that as well.

Ultimately, Mordin seems to be the best friend for everyone but that's as far as the relationship goes. Intellectual stimulation will only go so far it would seem...

Jeah I still think it would be right discuss his issue with the genophage here. Also I see the Li thing, for a non LI char he really has much text. But sometimes he is cold and its hard to understand how he really feels so its hard to discuss it. Also I think some of the love intrests jsut get that long threads because they were popular before. Garrus and Tali had some of the longest discussions in ME 1 their popularity is what made them LI in ME 2 still they had discussions going on before. So no suprise it gets even more with the LI.

I think many people dont like talking about the doc, because in fact he ha sa very sad history, everybody likes him, but he has done unspeakable things, and not everybody like to discuss chemical genocide, crazy siencist work etc too much, but you have to if you want to analyze his charakter.

Perhaps that is true. I didn't join the boards before getting Dragon Age so I would have missed the initial formation of the Garrus and Tali threads. But even so, take any Mass Effect 2 exclusive love interest and their thread is still longer than the non-love interest characters by a long shot.

The problem in trying to discuss the heavier issues with respect to Mordin is that it would limit that particular discussion in some way. I think the best that can come out of such a discussion is to merely clarify what could be seen as particular obscurities within the game itself.

There are other levels to the discussion which can be character-centric but that would require the understanding of certain philosophical positions for such a debate to take place.

I'm just going to assume this thread is only 25 pages because everyone already acknowledges that Mordin is the best character in the series thus far :)

Maybe there isn't much lobbying for him to be in ME3 because most people assume he's going to die of old age soon or something?

You know, I probably may have mentioned this way back when, but I like how Mordin slowly warms/opens up to Shepard over the course of the game via the conversations you have with him. At first, he's all 'business as usual', but then after his loyalty mission, he seems more open and friendly. I like that. It's not marred by romance-specific paths and all. Very subtle at first, but I've picked up on it during subsequent playthroughs.

And him being a biotic at one point during development? I'm glad he turned out not to be one in the end. I've always had a soft spot for the 'badass normals' and while biotic*Mordin would have been cool... it would've been overkill given the amount of biotics you have in your party already.

Depending on whether you've played Arrival, but it would seem there's a very large chance of Mordin (and the rest of the team) will be a part of ME3. At least the time frame would suggest that there will be no deaths 'off camera' as it were.

If that time frame is correct, then ME3 is to ME2 much like Back to the Future 3 was to Back to the Future 2; it follows on immediately. That's what I'd like to think anyway.

Currently I've just managed another ME run with my 'newly' created Peorth Shepard (who is intended to be my ultimate Paragon), and I just imported her into ME2. Just had the genophage discussion with Mordin.

I think a lot of members here in general (not just this thread) feel rather displeased with Shepard's Paragon dialogue concerning Mordin's handling of the genophage. I would have to add myself to that list of disgruntled people. Shepard's response to Mordin is not only naive, as Mordin points out to Shepard, but borders on stupidity.

Oh, also Mordin does seem to have a great deal of dialogue. As much as I like Garrus I do get fed up of his persistence with calibrations.

Originally I didn't care for Mordin, but he turned out to be an incredibly important character for the game. Also, when he thought shepard was flirting with him -- pretty darn hilarious.

But as soon as I got incinerate I pretty much always use him for any kind of mission against the collectors or blood pack. Even though I am adept, and some people think that since the adept can warp you don't need Mordin, I still almost always include him. He is an awesome character. However, I feel like cryo is useless compared to incinerate.

I have read that some players like having Miranda and Thane on the Collector ship on Insanity. I tried that and got badly beaten. So I take along the trusted Professor Solus and Miranda to kick many behinds.

It just seems that Incinerate is more powerful than Warp in my games. Cryo Blast is actually pretty nifty as you freeze your targets and if you're quick enough (and have the right powers at your disposal) you can shatter them. Just make sure they don't fall behind some cover though.

Mordin thinking that Shepard is flirting with him is funny. His sex advice is also rather funny.

Here's that comic I was working on. My take on the 'Scientist Salarian' scene with my Shepard:

There's more info over on DA, because I'm tired of c&p'ing hehe.

very nicely drawn! But the joke went over my head and I had to google it :( I did chuckle after I found out what it was though :P

PS: Mordin confirmed to show up in ME3, but no word as to how (not looking like a squadmate so far).

Yeah, I saw the Game Informer news.

At this point, I'm just happy with Mordin showing up, period. <3 Even if he isn't a squadmate, I'm looking forward to see how his story ends in this game.

I'm sad to see Mordin removed as a squadmate option for ME3, but when I stop to think about it, the idea almost makes sense.  Mordin may have been skilled in battle, but he was a scientist and doctor first and foremost.  When the stuff hits the fan I'd want to know that I could come to Mordin for his scientific expertise.  So, as long as he's not relegated to a glorified cameo appearance, I can handle Mordin's reduced presence in ME3.

The thing to keep in mind is that it doesn't say flat out he isn't a squadmate. It just says that it's not confirmed he'll be a squadmate, but he will be in the game regardless.

Although given the mechanics of having temporary squadmates for a mission or two (LotSB, Arrival), I wouldn't rule out him being even a temporary team member either. It's still too early to tell for sure.

Exactly.
Temporary squadmate missions are a great and convinitent way to include characters who possibly died in the second installation.

@Title: Mordin is actually never saying "Hold the Line", he's only quoting Captain Kirrahe.
But on topic:

I really want more of that fast talking, only half of the sentence saying know-it-all.

Whether Mordin appears as a cameo, a temporary squad mate, or a permanent squad mate...

he needs to sing. I've never reloaded a save more times than I have to hear his rendition of Gilbert and Sullivan.
