Same here, Lady.

I love Mordin to death but I think he's got a smaller shot at being a permanent squadmate in ME3 than many of the other playable characters. This isn't necessarily a horrible thing, though; I think since it sounds like we'll be visiting the salarian homeworld we might find the lion's share of his characterization will take place there and that he might not necessarily need to eat up a full-time slot in order to do a bunch of genophage-related stuff there.

Still, his popularity gives him a decent edge over at least a few other, less enthusiastically-received characters.

So many of his lines are so understated. The line of dialogue before that, where he says "always had me do the patter songs" made me almost spit my drink onto my keyboard.

I love that style of humor. It's not the most common style, either, which makes it all the more enjoyable when a character is well-written enough to pull it off.

Really, bits and pieces like so many of Mordin's lines are what reaffirm for me at the end of the day that no matter how many people have no matter how many problems with no matter how many of the series' storyline elements -- even if some of these complaints are justified -- Mass Effect is going to remain a huge interest of mine for many years to come.

Wow, I managed to fit the word 'many' in there four times.

enough with the elcor Hamlet, I want this:

"now on stage at selected theatres within citadel space comes the award-winning performance of Gilbert and Sullivan by the Salarian Entertainment Association; Starring the lauded Professor Mordin Solus. DO NOT MISS IT."

now thats an advert that I would actually pay attention to

I keep seeing him mentioned as the favorite second squadmate. It seems like a lot of people take their LI (or Garrus) first, and then Mordin as the other character.

That's pretty much what I did on every mission where a different character didn't have an RP reason to be there. I also took Mordin whenever there was a chance of encountering mad science. So... a lot.

Its weird for me to say, because i know most people think of Mordin as like "that cool bro" who is always making you laugh and ponder the weirdest stuff....

but...seriously....I'd tap that.

Like for real, I don't care if his sex drive is like nonexistent, I would make my Shepard figure out how to lay eggs. I was very sad when he denied my love. D;

trufax. I tend to have parties that don't have biotics in 'em (I'm crazy, I know) and Mordin is a powerhouse, ability-wise. Extraordinarily helpful on the higher difficulties. Incinerate and Neural Shock? Nice. Works rather well in tandem with an Engineer*Shepard, though Soldier and Infiltrator benefit too.

As for his dialogues, yeah, I agree. It's those little, subtle "throw-away" lines that get me.

Speaking of which, here's a video of one of my favorite bits of Mordin dialogue. I know other characters have certain things they say, but I love the banter-esque quality between Kasumi and Mordin. Almost reminds me of party banter in Dragon Age, come to think of it...

You know thinking about it, I'd like to see Mordin return as a squadmate. But if he has a good role(the ship could always use another medical officer) and substantial dialogue, I think I could be just as satisfied.

Makes it funnier how he's so deadpan about a lot of what he says. lol

Meta Ray Mek, Its against forum rules to post magazine scans, so you should take that down. I'm surprised its been up for a day already, I guess thats the Mordin fan thread for ya, once a ghost town always a ghost town.

Well, at least there's some confirmation that we'll get to see him early on. ^_^

That's because Mordin is untouchable.

... Yeah, I don't come to the forums a whole lot, so I had no clue about the rule. Derrrrrrrrrrrp.

Its funny, when that game informer article came out the moderators where watching every thread like hawks to make sure nobody was posting scans. But post it in the Mordin Thread and nobodies the wiser. he he he

Who knows what nonsense we could get on with in here, and when we finally got caught which would probably happen eventually, think of the scandal there would be, we'd be infamous.

*************

"Did you hear about the Mordin fan thread."
"No, why?"
"It got shut down, all the members were banned."
"Really, what was so bad?"
explains...........
"OH my god, what freaks! How where they able to get away with it for so long?"
"I have no clue, and nobody else seems to have the answer either."
"I guess we'll never know."

Not only was Mordin one of my favorite ME 2 Characters to talk with but also to take along in almost every mission. Heavy Incinerate was down right nasty, to say nothing for the awesomeness that was cryo blast (Was a Vanguard and enjoyed charging and shattering frozen collectors). I've seen some (not on this thread) complain about his combat prowess, or lack there of. I simply don't see it.

Aside from LotSB DLC and Liara's dialoge, Mordins was top notch.

Had to send some love Mordin's way :)
Definately my favorite non-romanceable character (and my second favorite in all my crew).
Hope we get to see him in ME3 even if he won't join your team.
Loved it when he was singing Gilbert and Sullivan and giving sex advice, brilliant character.
Also loved his incineration tech, I brought him along for most of the missions just because of it.

He accidentally died in one of my playthroughs though, very sad. I had to go back and replay just to make sure he got out of that base alive.

I feel like such a traitor if I don't turn up here. Lurk lurk.

I've always liked Mordin, it's nice he's returning in ME3, I'm hoping we'll get even more TITILLATING science conversations with our dear professor.

Also does anyone think Kirrahe might return in ME3? Providing he survived of course, I'm sure a conversation between Mordin and him would be hilarious.

Also, it's the love interests that get most of the attention. I don't see many non-love interests making for long threads. I don't frequent those threads much myself as they seem singularly focused on discussing how attractive the character is, and (heavy) discussions are also limited. When they do occur they are difficult to participate in.

Ultimately, Mordin seems to be the best friend for everyone but that's as far as the relationship goes. Intellectual stimulation will only go so far it would seem...

Mind you the only fan thread I frequent regularily is the Jack thread, and sure looks are discussed occasionally, but to say that "heavy" discussions are rare or none existent does a disservice to many insightful and thought provoking posts I've read and those that posted them. But that just one fan thread.

I love both Mordin and Jack, and I've often wondered why one thread is much more active than the other, and sure being an LI is a part of the reason, but in comparing the two this is what I've come up with...

Jack is character surrounded by unkowns, heck even what little we do know can be interpreted in many ways, which leaves plenty of room for speculation. Mordin on the other hand is the most complete/well rounded character in the series to date, sure there were a few surprises along the way, but there isn't much to speculate about since you feel like you already know him.

Maybe if we turned this into a general Salarian thread, not just a Mordin one? The best discussions in the Garrus thread are often about Turians in general and well... don't tell those guys I said this but... I like Salarians better.

A race of hyperactive science nerds with ADD? I want to go to there. Other times I think I'm already there.

Also, I find this really interesting: on this big poll where they had people vote on which top five squaddies they wanted, weighted for how much they want them... Mordin is ahead of Miranda, and is the most popular new ME2 character. Just barely, though when the poll started he was ahead by over 10%. Still... makes my little fangirl heart happy.

I do enjoy Salarian characters. While acknowledging their slight builds and affinity for scientific pursuits, I always thought it was very cool that they had their own elite infiltration and reconnaissance teams. I liked working with Kirrahe at Virmire, so I'm very hopeful that we'll be seeing him and his team in Mass Effect 3.
