"Modified genophage project great in scope, scientifically brilliant, but... ethically difficult. Krogan reaction visceral, tragic,- not guilty,...but responsible."

Mordin, in many ways, is a perfect example of what Renegade Shep should aspire to. Mordin -cares- about the Krogan, as he cares about all species. But he didn't let that stop him from doing what he knew needed to be done.
He's smart. He's tough. He's ruthless and he's funny.
I think Mordin's fantastic.

This is how I feel about this thread. Great work on the frontpage, Silt. Could you also add the link to the 'Is Paragon too hard on Mordin' thread. I remember you took part in it, and it was one of the few actual discussions that were about Mordin. Consesus must not only be built, but also archived for poserity's sake
So, who wants Mordin to come back as squadmate, and who as a non-recruitable NPC?
Mordin was great in combat, so great that when I aquired him, I thought he'll be the permanent fixture in my squad. But I tried to roleplay, and I always ended up leaving left him back on the ship. Overprotective of my irreplaceable geniuses, I am.

Ideally I'd like him as a squadmember, since that also means he gets reaction dialogue when we're out in the field.
Any time I get more Mordin dialogue is a happy, happy time for me.
But like I've said before, I'll take him as non-recruitable if necessary. I just want him with an active role in the game. Besides, he's the professor. What if we need him for another anti-seeker-swarmish kind of technology in ME3? Who will give us our extremely technical and occasionally improbable deus ex machina if there's no Mordin?!
Without him, we're doomed. Doomed I say.

I liked all the new squadmates in ME2 but Mordin is my favorite out of all of them. At first I thought he was going to be a really annoying character but man I ended up using him in a majority of the missions. Deep and funny character and great loyalty mission...can't go wrong.
And I can't tell you how many times I spammed Mordin's incinerate power.

Mordin has unfinished business on Tuchanka. Since he's so smart, I'm thinking he can last a few more years.
Ah, yes, the 'unfinished business on Tuchanka'. We have already discussed that claim (thanks for the link, Silt)
I'll take it from here: no matter how you view the krogan uplifting and genophage, consider this: in their current state, curing genophage will result in the second krogan uplifting. I trust Wrex to civilize Krogan someday, but it will take a lot of suspension of disbelief if he actually manages to do so by ME3. So I've kept this cure, and am getting ready to initiate disbelief-suspension protocols, but in truth, I want them to postpone curing krogan (ah, that's renegade)

My main fear for Mordin is that he WOULD be reduced to The Professor role, Silt ( me, personally - I want him to operate and cut out those synthetic implants cerberus has put in, if it is still possible. They unnerve me. Can do, Mordin?)
He had excellent development in ME2, one of the best I remember from Bio, being both a great comic relief and an incredibly serious character. I want his serious side to be developed too. I just don't quite see were it will go.
Will he be seduced by asari, and finally understand what love is about? Nah...
Will he become subtly indoctrinated when researching reaper tech, and become their advocate? (they are, if you look at the bigger picture, an integral part of intergalactic biosynthetic diversity) Nah...
Will his STG past catch up to him? His old coworkers trying to take him out because he knows something he should not? Will his long lost grandfather turn out to be the last member of The League of One? nah, Bio and their family matters
My point is, writing Mordin will not be easy. They have set the standard too high
I don't want him to be reduced to sitting on the ship, performing scientific miracles, and dispensing advice, dammit!

I do agree that they've set the standard pretty high, that's a good point.
Unfortunately, I've no idea what they're going to do with the game structure in ME3. Will they even still have character-specific quests, what with all the SRS REAPER BIZNIS? (Man, I hope they do. Those are usually my favorites.) Or will they assume that we know the characters well enough, considering we spent pretty much the entirety of ME2 learning about them?
My hope for Mordin is ultimately this: as big a role as possible. I ideally want him with just as much involvement as he had in this story (maybe more), but I do realize that they have a large number of squadmates to work around, and that if someone gets the ax it might be Mordin since he can rather easily fulfill a non-recruitable role.
I'm probably still stuck in the mentality where I believed he's going to die in a few years and I just wanted him in ME3. Now that I found out otherwise I should probably raise my expectations a little though.

Oh, fantastic!
Any, ah....any possible way you could point me in the direction of said .zip file? Help a girl get her Mordin fix?

May I link your top 10 faces on the OP? Or would you rather I just linked the images and left your journal out of it?
(Shore leave Friday is tomorrow! I forgot! One more reason why Friday rocks any other day of the week on it's face.)

Be my guest.
And yeah, Friday's gonna be fun. I've got something Mordin-related that I'll chuck in the comments section pertaining to something really horrible I wrote a while back. It's gonna be hilarious, I hope.
And one of these days, I gotta scan in some of my Geography notes. I think I've drawn Mordin more in the lower left hand corner than I have taking notes!

Woo! I got linkage! /rocks out
Actually I was just gonna ... crap... train of thought derailed. There was a very important reason for coming to the Prof's thread.... OH! RIGHT!
So I have the Turian Tattoo DB up and running, but I'm curious if I should start a Salarian Skintone DB as well. They look so pretty ... Oo But I have a bunch of pics of just Mordin, and I need a bit of a refresher on all the good places to find up close shots of salarians (like Thane's recruitment mission). Only thing is, this would be purely from a "this is pretty" as opposed to "face butterfly means x colony (AND THAT YOU CAN"T BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY PALLIN!)"

I have come to trust each of you with my life -- but I have also heard murmurs of discontent. I share your concerns. We are trained for espionage; we would be legends, but the records are sealed. Glory in battle is not our way.
Think of our heroes; the Silent Step, who defeated a nation with a single shot. Or the Ever Alert, who kept armies at bay with hidden facts. These giants do not seem to give us solace here, but they are not all that we are.
Before the network, there was the fleet. Before diplomacy, there were soldiers!
Our influence stopped the rachni, but before that we held the line! Our influence stopped the krogan, but before that, we held the line!
Our influence will stop Saren; in the battle today, we will hold the line!"
