Me thinks the Illusive man and the shadow broker are the same.

Thoughts?

The Shadow Broker isn't really a person, just a meme unknowingly perpetuated by his supposed agents. These agents exchange information in secret, all thinking they work for some Ultra Information Broker. It's actually just them, and their exchange, acquisition, and sale of information. They are ALL the Shadow Broker, and they don't even realize it.

At least, that's my theory.

lol Schneid, that theory is awesome. I always thought the shadow broker was an AI. Or maybe even a reaper, although that is a bit of a cliche.

Sounds likely as well. And I like this idea better than having him be a real person.

There probably was a Shadow Broker long ago. Probably a Salarian. He trained an apprentice, who trained an apprentice, and this went on and on. Untill the founding of the Council. The the SB at the time, decided to break from tradition and train many apprentices. Each in secret and unknown to each other.

Those apprentices then took an apprentice of their own. And so on. Untill the current date where there are many agents of Agents who each think that they are the Shadow Broker. This way the Shadow Broker can never die. There will always be a broker of knowlege working in the shadows.

There are many speculations and theorys. Ranging from a group of people to the Reapers. All I can tell you is that we will know in ME3. I know I'm like you I don't want to wait but, that's life eh?

Personelly I think it's one of these:

1) Reapers or Harbinger or something like that :)

2) It's someone is has been dead for a long time and somehow they/he/she is something is still doing the biz.

3) and this one is the most realistic for me exept the Reapers is that it's someone that we already know or even in some speculation it's someone very close to Shepard.

God I want to know this like crazy. Thought's can someone help out a little more? Clarify some things?

I had previously theorized that it was TIM as well, especially after he stated that his job was to provide information. But this theory makes me think. It would be awesome if it were true. It'll really put a wad in Liara's panties.

But why would TIM want to deal with information that doesn't help Humanity in the long run?

Didn't the Shadow Broker want to deliver dead Shepard to the Collectors? Seems pretty contrary to what TIM wants.

I don't trust the shifty grey-eyed bastard, thats why. I'm not sure he has humanities best interest in heart, as much as his own.

There are dozens of shady untrustworthy people in ME.

That doesn't make them all the Shadow Broker

The shadow broker would likely be an Asari or a Krogan considering he seems to have been around for a long time

Aye. Part of me hopes that, if my theory isn't correct as of now, Bioware will steal it from me and make it true in ME3. How much more awesome would a "Liara's Revenge" quest be if she found out there was no Shadow Broker to kill? It'd probably be the most dramatic scene in the entire franchise. I picture her shrieking in frustration and helplessly beating on Shepard's chest.

And then you would yell CUT! and liara would end the scene, slip into a silk robe, wrap her lithe arms around your neck and...

oh, wait a minute.

I'm guessing a DLC would clear out this mystery, but if it would be best to leave it as it is, and believe that the Broker is the Man.
