I like that idea too, but given how out of left field TIM and the collectors were, I don't expect this to be particularly well foreshadowed in ME3. (I guess you never know, though, considering that there's still time for there to be ramifications to sharing Cerberus data with the Shadow Broker's agents in ME1...)

"An AI" seems like the most obvious guess. I am bored by the guess that it's the Consort. I would totally love it if it were actually the keepers or something wildly unexpected like that.

Sigh for the love of God people Shadow Broker is not TIM and he's not a Reaper. Have you read the Redemption comic or the Ascension novel? TIM is a human who was once had a normal life. If he was a reaper he would have given Shepard to the Collectors instead of trying to negotiate with them.



Sorry if I am annoyed, but it is because I am. This topic has come up way too much with several people saying the same thing. The Shadow Broker is either a single person with a network of agents in every species' govt.s and most organizations, a group of people working under the same name or as someone else suggested that he is an AI. Of course it could be something else, but it's not TIM or a reaper.

Well, let's see.... has to be from one of the species that were first in the Citadel - well entrenched, superficially trustworthy.  Has a position where they have access to lots of privileged information.  Has a position that no one would suspect.  Is very, very rich and/or has access to lots of money.  Has recently run into a lot of trouble what with being on the wrong side of ... let's call them "newcomers."

He's supposed to have died in ME1 in my playthrough -- you hear a news announcement that he gets killed picking a fight with a bunch of turians. Imagine my surprise when I see him turn up on Illium . . . hey, maybe he *is* the Shadow Broker and can cheat death . . .

Too obvious.  Although, it is called 'obvious' for a reason, I suppose.  I do hope they come up with something better then some unknown salarian popping out of the shadows to take the credit though.

I had previously theorized that it was TIM as well, especially after he stated that his job was to provide information. But this theory makes me think. It would be awesome if it were true. It'll really put a wad in Liara's panties.

I'm with the theory it's an AI, as well. Not saying it has to be a rogue one, as an AI can prioritise the value of information over pretty much everything, and see the need in having some form of financial income to comintually finance costs for acquiring said information, when needed. Also, a single AI would be able to run around people and organise a network of agents working for it, as again, it would need a set of "field agents" to take action where it may be unable to, if it is just software.



Then again, it might just be my toaster.

I think it may also be possible that the SB is actually the geth, or a sub-faction of geth. Cause when ever you talk to Legion, he talks about how the geth watch other races, and that they even put up a fabricated story on the extranet to see how organics would react.



So the SB may possibly be the geth, but I think its probably an AI of some sort.
