Well, people would most likely have sex than to actually kill someone. Maybe that's why sex is more "censored" to balance the two.

Just my opinion.

In all of arts representations, from cinema to literature, you can kill if you kill for a "good" reason. The crusaders, just as Charlemagne, could deliberately kill "in the name of god". So there is no need to censor killing.

Uh, no. It's the European Countries and Australia that has a problem with it. They've altered games to remove blood and decapitations, or sometimes just entirely ban them. I love how everyone outside the States is so quick to blame America for everything wrong in the world.

P.S. I'm not an ignorant American. I'm 100% Italian, I immigrated to this country when I was 15.

America does have issues, but they are nothing compared to those of Italy and Germany.

I don't feel like digging too much to find a proper link; but this should give you the jist of it if your not familiar with that debacle.

It is an american thing with nudity, and not an european problem!

and no one is blaming america for everything wrong in the world, I only blame religion..

Americans: simple nudity = they freak out and ask for adult rating.
Blood Gore, flying limbs, total violence = Pg13-16 rating.Image IPB

The European superiority complex is just so funny to me. You guys have been doing it since the 1700s when you decided you were the only nations that were 'civilized', and it was old than and it is old now.

Don't forget who begged America to help you take over Asia because you bit off more than you could chew.

Don't forget who had to come and intervene in two world wars.

Yet the game was rated M.

My mother once upon a day told me something .

-You know Kids.If woman could show their breast anywhere during summer . A lot of woman would start doing it ..  it's would become boring seing a pair of bewbies after a certain amount of time. That why we cover them ... To let's your imagination work!!

Come to think of it I don't remember them putting Canadians in D-Day or Stalag 17. So here is some <3 for you Canadians.

EDIT: And yes I know Wayne wasn't in Stalag 17.

I do think it's somewhat curious how often sex and violence are equated when it comes to ratings, censorship, and reactions. The argument is that it's hypocritical to be ok with graphic violence but not sex. I disagree; I don't think it's really the same. Although both the act of sex and the act of violence may be right or wrong depending on the circumstances, one is inherently private, and the other is not. I think I'm safe saying that for a lot of people, although no doubt some would disagree.

For example, I wouldn't have a problem with someone posting a video of my fighting, or, heaven forbid, killing someone on the internet, provided there was just cause. I *would* have a problem with someone putting a video of me having sex with someone on the internet, no matter who it was.

For that reason, I think it's borderline dishonest to accuse people of being hypocritical for censoring sex but not violence.

Gimme' a second until I can grab some dates.

And you are correct about the U.S., but I was referring to the general attitude of European elitism to all non-Europeans around that time, as they started to go out and colonize.

And the second part was when Britain asked us in the late late 1800s to come help them fulfill 'the white man's burden' in East Asia.

According to an editorial written in 1899, Britains' offer for us to come share in the glory of 'civilizing the orient' "awakens a suspicion that the glory (of going to impose ourselves in the orient) is not altogether a profitable one. Great Britain evidently has more than she can carry and would like to divide the 'glory' (work/cost) with us."

It also says that this persuit had built Britain enemies accross the globe and that this endavor has "imposed a heavy burden of debt and thus have prevented the accomplishment of many needed reforms at home; and finally it has brought her into a position where without an ally she is confronted by a hostile world and is in danger of having her commerce, and perhaps her empire swept away at the first outbreak of war."

I am studying European history right now, and my history teacher is from France... so, I doubt she has much American bias.

Quotes from "Sources of The Making of the West" (since 1500), by Kathering Lualdi. It is just a comilation of primary documents from the different decades, it didn't give an author of the editorial.

And no, I am not a complete loser, I am hanging around before my next class, and had the book with me. Image IPB

And now I am three minutes late... cya. Image IPB

Yano I keep hearing Gaga is a man, so I just dont know what to think lol.

You also gave us foo fighters, greenday, slipknot, eminem etc, some quality stuff :D

And schurge, yeah, the british empire then was getting too big for its own good. It was very strained, too many borders. It was after WW1 when it really kicked in lol.

EA is likely most concerned about the ESRB rating of  the game.  No media coverage is "bad" media coverage.

A "M" rating game "may contain intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content and/or strong language."  No nudity allowed.

An "AO" rating would have been given to the game if it contained "prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity."

"M" or Mature-rated games are still going to sell and are widely available in major retail stores.  An "AO" or Adults Only-rated game would not even be sold in most retail stores.  Stores like Target & Best Buy aren't going to touch an AO-rated game.  Not being able to buy the game at large retailers like that would likely have had a very negative impact on sales.

There are mods available that extend the sex scenes & there are nude mods out there; so, just turn to the community instead of EA.  I do not "JO" to this game or any other game, but I much prefer my mods to the game version.

This is some very good reasons here but it goes a little further than that. Microsoft AND Sony have both explicitly said they will NOT allow games to be published for their systems that garner an AO rating. Ain't gonna happen. So whatever their reasoning it behooves the game designers, like Bioware, to make sure the content doesn't reach the level deemed unfit for publishing.
