hurray for thread starter. i was starting to think this place was going to be a bunch of inarticulate pimple heads posting nonstop about what their favorite alien race is.

Even Tali'Zorah who some of the other Quarians say is "the best and brightest their race has to offer" is a poster girl to show just how racist and selfish the Quarians really are. In ME1 all she ever cared about was the migrant fleet, her pilgramage and destroying the Geth, she really came off as self centered and quite frankly a bit of a ****. In ME2 she hasnt changed much. She was very rude when she first came on board the Normandy to Jacob (who tried to offer the hand of friendship) just because he was black. She even tried to kill Legion just because he was a Geth even though he did save her life.

The Quarians are a race of total bastards, the council was right to boot them from the citadel and I sincerly hope we get the option to destroy the Migrant fleet in ME3.

Let's start from the beginning, sir Troll.

They did not research AI beyond the law, but they pushed to the limits of the law. It was not illegal, even if the research bordered on it.

They created the geth to be a manual labour force, not to "torture when they are feeling particularly sadistic" - where the hell did you get that from? There has also been no mentioning of the quarians wanting to enslave the galaxy either - buddy, what ARE you smoking?

The geth started asking questions about if they had a soul - nothing has been said that they were an "intelligent and caring" race. Man, that thing in your pipe must be some strong ****...

The quarians did not try to kill the geth for the fun of it - they panicked, and the geth answered with violence, something that drove the quarians out. Nothing fun in that.

The quarians were not banned from citadel space because of their war lust - they were banished because they created the geth in the first place. Seriously, where do you get your **** from?

Of course the quarians hold a grudge - I would too if my vacuum cleaner would have driven me out of my home. And as far as I know, the reason the quarians plan for war is because they DO NOT KNOW the geth stance in the matter. They only have their own point of view.

Tali did not take Jacob's hand because he was Cerberus, not becuase he was black - in a galaxy where species is the big thing, do you really think someone from another species would care about another's skin colour? I don't know about Legion saving Tali's life either - in your game perhaps, not mine.  Want to PM me your source of that pot?

Actually that was me, but I would hardly say that 22 pages of responses is a fail, sure most of those responses from SnakeHelah but the fact that he spent so much time and effort trying to derail the thread and got banned as a result of it I do have to say successful thread is successful.

I was going to restart this thread but as I can see Darth_Mandalore beat me to it, however I must say that he did do a good job with the thread title as it really catches your attention.

the relationship between the quarians and the geth is simple the geth are there dirty little secret that have got them almost exiled from the rest of the universe so of course there gonna be a little pissed and some probably think if they got rid of the geth they would earn everyones respect while others probably think that moving on would be better for the race as a whole

Technically, they didn't "attack for noreason" they tried to shut them down and the geth attacked. In the vaccum example it would be jus tthat your using your sweeper normally one day and it starts to talk to you, panicing you try and turn it off but it attacks you driving you out of your house.

First of all, you've got the chronology wrong. The quarians didn't create sentient geth and then enslaved them. They were already enslaved from the start. Btw enslaved is not really a correct term here since the geth weren't actually sentient in the beginning. However, the quarians went too far with their upgrading and so the geth came to life or how you want to put it. The quarians were afraid, they never wanted to "kill them all just for fun". Also, where do you get "caring" from when you speak of the geth? They don't have emotions.

This is an honest question, so please don't take this as an insult or flaming, but are you trolling or trying to be funny or something? I mean because if you've played the ME games I find it hard to believe that you might think that this is how it was.

That said, I guess I can see both sides of the story. The quarians were afraid and tried to shut down the geth, who instead rebelled because they obviously didn't want to be shut down. It's a tricky dilemma for the galactic community. To view the geth as illegal AIs who should be shut down, or to view them as a galactic species who has the same rights as other species. I for one am looking forward to this problem in ME3. It must be solved or at least I hope so.

Even though I'm a Tali/Quarian fan, I have to admit the geth are probably a little more innocent than the quarians. However, given a choice between quarians and geth, I'd pick the quarians everytime. Why? Because I don't feel any empathy for an immortal, emotionless, hive mind.

By "shut down" you mean exterminate dont you? What you just said is a load of BS, stop trying to distort the truth. The Quarians attacked the Geth, they fired the first shot and then the Geth defended themselves. Face it the Quarians are a race of total bastards.

Geth were only a robots meant for labor. You can't enslave a robot, it's not a living being. Quarians never intended them to be sapient. A single geth would never become self-aware. They became AI only thanks to the network of hundreds of thousands geth sharing their computing power. Only then their status changed to slaves. Also quarians didn't want to kill them, they wanted to prevent creating sapient race before it was too late. When first geth showed signs of self-awareness quarians wanted to shut them down. Can't see any flaw in their logic, I imagine humans would do the same in their place. Geth share their processing power. Turning off most of them would revet AI status back to VI. The problem is it was already too late.

Never once did it say that the Quarians tried to deactivate them, in my codex it says that the Quarians tried to exterminate the Geth and the Geth protected themselves. Even Tali said in ME1 that the Quarians ATTACKED the Geth first.

But besides even if they tried to use the off switch the Geth have a right to fight back. If you had an off switch and somebody tried to press it wouldnt you defend yourself?

There is no excuse for what the Quarians did so stop trying to find one. The Quarians are a race of selfish evil bastards and deserved to be kicked from their homeworld and the citadel.

You can't just label an entire race "bastards" and be done with it. There are quarians like qwib-qwib who feel that they wronged the geth and should apologise for it.
