The end of ME2 hints that in ME3, your squad gets to stay together.  I'm wondering if that's actually the case.  We get hints of what characters might do once they deal with the Collector mission, and I suspect Shepard won't insist on keeping them when other matters are pressing for them--and those matters might in fact aid in destroying the Reapers.

For instance, we know Miranda is loyal to Cerberus.  Where will she go now?  She could stick with your crew, assuming you earned her loyalty, but are you sure she's really loyal to you?  And there's also the matter of EDI, watching over your every move.  Is she loyal to you, or to Cerberus?

Tali will need to go back to her people, either to help them fight the geth or to forge peace with the geth.  You need the quarians and you may need the geth.  There are just too many reapers to deal with if you don't have a crazy-huge army.

Garrus... In ME1, he was already showing signs of being a bit of a renegade, but he was a cool renegade.  In ME2, his loyalty quest started making me think he was turning into Saren all over again.  In ME3, is he going to snap and finally go entirely renegade to the point that he may even seem evil, or will he finally catch a break?

Is Thane going to even survive to ME3?  Honestly I doubt it, but even if he does, could he survive to the end of ME3?  I have the feeling he'll just tag along with Shepard.  He seems to have no other desire at the moment.

What will happen to Jack?  Will she try to go off and live normally or will she need to remain in protective custody (read: with Shepard) for the rest of her days?

Theories?

They'd better all be on my ship if they're still breathing.Image IPB

Don't know about the other squadmates, but Miranda quits Cerberus and practically gives Illusive Man the finger if you choose to destroy the base. She's along for the ride with Shepard now ( no pun intended).

You have to bring her with you to the final boss fight though for this to happen.

Honestly though, I want all my squadmates back for ME3

If you kept her in your group when you killed the little reaper, she tells The Illusive Man to shove the base somewhere.

This could go either way, remember that she's Vas Normandy now in several different variations of her loyalty quest. Her new 'home' would be with you for the most part, but she could go and try to solve the geth issue diplomatically, though I think you yourself will be solving that, so she'll help out either way.

Garrus is the one guy I've always liked, and I liked the character development, and as long as your still around he'll be jumping into hell with you every step of the way. That is, given that you don't get blown up and spaced for another two years, he'll get himself killed without you.

This could go either way as well, I suppose it depends on how long ME3 is after ME2. If it's a very next day he could easily stay along, or ask to spend his last months with his son.

This one is questionable. While I like her as a character, she annoys me to no end, and I would like her to go off and do something else, preferrably not near me as she's inclined to do violent things and I generally can't resist following a mostly paragon path (aka I still headbutt Uvenk, every time).

I never personally cared for Miranda, not after her comment about wanting to implant my Shepard with a mind control chip. I was kind of with Jack about her. Except I didn't like Jack at all either.

I was just replying to your first point in that it is not really accurate.

My sentiments exactly. Though I also didn't like Ashley or Liara as well. So far as far as your female squadmates go, Tali is the only one that I actually liked, and would like to follow me into hell one last time, though Samara was definately interesting if you followed her dialogue throughout the game.
That doesn't mean I don't acknowledge the others as great characters, just they don't get along with me.

I never much cared for either. What with oh poor me I'm cused with a perfect bum. But (ha) she won me over when we blew up that base and she told the TIM to take his job and shove it.

The only "hint" of this is if you let them all die.  I think even if you never see them actively in the game, if they survive, then the game will acknowledge that they survived somehow.

Apart from Garrus and Tali dying, I can totally see them as squad mates again.  In fact, it would totally stink if they weren't, since they were there in the first two. That said, if you kill them, it won't be possible.  Also I want Kaidan or Ashley back, if only because I want to chew Kaidan out soundly.

I can't see Bioware deciding that everyone dies when they didn't decide that with ME2.  What I can see happening is everyone dying at the final mission of ME3, just to end the story for good so that people don't plead for sequels.  Though I still think it'd be cool to have more games set in the same setting, just based around different problems.

And re: Shinobi:  I know you were.  I was just explaining that I hardly ever put Miranda in my party unless it's during her loyalty quest.  Thus she wasn't there when I beat the end boss.

Until your spaced and Binary Helix spends 2 years rebuilding you, since Cerberus hates you now.

ME2 is the most epic gather the baddest of the bad ass crew mates you can get, it was almost entirely focused on that, with the Reapers really being a side plot in the sense that they really did not significantly affect the overarching "Reapers coming to kill us all" plot until the shot at the very end suggesting the Reaper fleet is right next door. ME1 had a significant amount of resources tied up in gathering crew as well, but the sheer scope of the ME2 recruitment story means in ME3, recruitment is no longer required, so the story can do much more exiting things. For one thing, in ME3, instead of recruiting crew, we'll be recruiting fleets. Also, even more intriguing, crew relational development can enter a new level - consider how most CRPGs wherein you recruit allies has at best all we have here in ME2, the initial recruitment, some development of the character, and a romance that barely starts just as the game ends. In ME3, long term relationship events can happen, even between crew - Jacob and Miranda once dated, and if Shep isn't romancing either, it makes sense that they get back together. Grunt and Samara, I don't see them dating, but they're both archetypal warriors and could develop a strong bond.

I really see ME3 picking up right after ME2, and almost every character tying in to a fleet or army recruitment mission (or, if you are renegade, conquer mission).
