Dragon Age NormalMap Converter

While it is incredibly easy to convert conventional normal maps to the type of normal map Dragon Age uses, not everyone has access to Photoshop or some other program that can manipulate color and alpha channels, or maybe someone doesnt know said programs enough to do the manual conversion by themselves.

For this simple reason i quickly put together a simple program that does the conversion for you! You can find it in my project's download page (link in my sig), or via this link:

You do need the .NET 3.5 framework for it to work!

Please post bugs here and i will try to iron them out, i dont expect to be any though as this is all very simple, just a few lines of code.

Installation: just unzip it anywhere, no installation needed. Run the exe.

thanks for a great tool.



some normal maps are not converted well I believe. they get black spots.

I see, there is something definitely wrong, can you please somehow get me the dds file you are trying to convert?

I think your normal map does not contain valid height information, but i will know more tomorrow.

so how could I solve that? use the blue normal map? or it would not work at all?
