He and Vido founded the Blue Suns, then the latter betrayed him.
He likes to keep trophies from his battles (then has the nerve to put them all on my ship).
He calls his broken rifle Jessie (I think that's what he calls it).
He's a selfish jerk who will gladly let innocent people die slowly and painfully if it means getting his petty revenge.
He's voiced by Robin Sachs, so any bad qualities he has are totally irrelevant.

Zaeed killed 50+ Cerberus operatives, but TIM has apparently pardoned him.
Zaeed does his homework.
Finally, Zaeed is real badass:

Hes actually a kind of personality I respect, but also I dont like either, because of certain aspects of hes ways of life. But you gotta do what you gotta do if the option is serious regret....

Only to make Tali happy. It's not a helmet actually, but a gas-mask. But it protects his eyes at least.

I liked Zaeed! He was a bad ass and had issues, but wasn't all "boo hoo, fix my life, Shepard" about it. He kind of reminded me of Ray Winstone, or Pete Postlethwaite (yay, I spelt that correctly on my first try). I should really use him a little more often. Too bad he didn't have more dialogue besides his war stories.
All of Zaeed's best dialogue comes out when you take him on missions. I think that, in the field, he is probably the most talkative of all of your teammates. What he says is frequently insightful, and if not, it's usually funny.
Oh... and the guy knows everybody. This is particulary true (as you might expect ) of the Blues Suns that you encounter. If you take him on Garrus' recruitment mission, Zaeed will have a conversation with the Blue Suns leader who refuses to talk to Shepard (the two are old acquaintances, it seems).

I know! They have an entire converstation forgetting Shepard is even there! Zaeed has the hookups. I just wish you should talk to him about his war stories like you did with Wrex in the first game.Bartlebyfinch wrote...
