all dwarves should have scottish accents, even the snow white dwarves from the 1940's were scottish. I'm an american and I don't know anything about Scottishia (i dont even know what scottish accented people's country is called), but this is a staple of being a dwarf:  they need to have scottish accents.

Just like soccer moms should have a big mini van.  it is just the way it is.  Who agrees with me?

Although the video I saw of one dwarf was done by the same voice actor for spike in cowboy beebop, which is cool.

That dwarf is Gorim. Steve Blum also does the voice for Oghren (also a dwarf and a companion.)

The place the Scots come from is Scotland. It is the upper part of the UK and is where Kilts, Haggis, and Bagpipes come from.

Now about the accent: It does not bother me much.

While I do like the scottish accents, dwarves are still really good smiths and warriors, still like a good ale, and are still short and stocky. That's good enough for me.

They have really misproportioned arms in my opnion though, or their legs might be too short, I can't tell.

All dwarves should have high-pitched squeaky voices and a lisp.

Sure he does, he's a troll ;) I was skeptical when I first had this pointed out, but now I'm convinced.

Getting rid of the scottish accent also meant getting rid of the idea of dwarves as comical relief - a good change, I think.

I do kinda wish the Dragon Age: Origins dwarves had Scottish accents. I am used to it is why I guess. Also, I like it.

yeah, their arms are a bit too long in my opinion. Otherwise they're fine.

We can get JEB and his tiara, try and stick him in a kilt (He'd probably do it willingly), and have him seranade you with a scottish accent.

Kilsot, those long arms are absolutely necessary. Don't tell me you've never tried to reach an arm around a fully armored and slightly stocky significant other… C'mon now.

As for the accent, the Scottish Dwarves died when the darkspawn invaded the Deep Roads. It might be possible that some cities survived, but don't get your hopes up.

Generally subjects shouldn't be a paragraph in length.  :pinched:

Perhaps something like "Scottish dwarves are crap!" would have been better?

Gotta admit, I do like those scottish accents on dwarves. But I'm fine with the ones they have, because they are just that good.

we dont claim him as one of ours........where it would be fun to have scot sounding dwarves i like how they are now.....though what about different clans having slight differences in their speech? as sort of a way to show their clan's orgins are not orginally Orizmar

*shrugs* I like them having different accents. It makes the dwarves in this game seem a lot less stereotypical.

The dwarfs I've seen previously all seem to have faux-Scottish accents, so I'm not too fussed. The dwarfs in the game are so different from regular dwarfs, it only seems fitting that they have different accents, too.

In fact, now that I think about, I really like the way Bioware have gone out of their way to think which characters/races have which accent.

Well, at least Bio didn't try to follow every stereotype of the fantasy genre. We're so used to dwarfs having a particular accent and it's all due to a failure to diversify over a looooooong period of time.

These aren't your momma's dwarfs. This is the new....
