I have been playing as an Engineer and at Level 58 on my second playthrough on Feros.

After this plan to start a new game as an Infiltrator, but is it possible to start the game on Insanity?

As long as you have completed the game on Hardcore, you can do Insanity. Enemies scale up and gain resistances/immunities.

I guess, I should clarify. Can I start a game on Insanity on a new career?

Basically, I am finishing Hardcore on as an engineer only. I want to start a new game as an infiltrator on insanity, possible?

Sweet. Thanks guys/gals!!!

Only thing, I wish I didn't have to unlock all the difficulties. There is no reason too....

I think the rational is that Insanity is geared not just towards experienced players but having the achievement bonuses like a bonus talent and the passive ones like the Ally achievements.

But yeah, unlockable difficulty levels is something that really should go in general.

If you want the achievement for insanity, just make sure you double check the difficulty level before you leave Eden Prime. It has been known reset itself to your previous setting, and if it's not insanity when you leave Eden Prime, the achievement is lost.

If you're planning to play a infiltrator, a good set of companions is Kaidan and Wrex. They create an equal balance of combat, tech, and biotics.

I'm not playing my infiltrator on Insanity. I already did that with a sentinel, lol. Hardcore is my "challenging but not stupid annoying" difficulty setting.

I also am curious if anyone knows the exact point you can set the difficulty to get the achievement. I had heard before that as long as you changed it before activating the beacon on Eden Prime you would get the difficulty achievement. Therefore, I have a save right before that happens that was setup for my insanity run, but now I am hearing different that you have to change the difficulty setting before landing on eden prime... anyone confirm?

You must have it set where you want it before activating the beacon on Eden Prime. Think, why would you not be able to change it on Eden Prime? How are you supposed to determine if it's too difficult for you if you can't experience some combat. Good Luck!!!!

awesome, this info helped me out a lot, I wanted to get a lvl 60 character (2 playthroughs) transferred to ME2 while having beat it on insanity ( second playthrough ) setting for the achievement, and was afraid that if I didn't start a fresh game, I wouldn't get it.

Is it possible to have a level 60 on 2 playthroughs? I thought you needed 3...

If so, you got to do a serious amount of XP harvesting somehow.

It is possible and not even that difficult. Note that you get XP bonuses for certain (completionist, power gamer, extreme power gamer) achievements. It becomes easier still, if you have the DLC.

No. You need 200,000XP for the final level alone.
