The Dragon Age: Origins Aweakening website has been updated with a new World update, this week exploring the arling of Amaranthine.

The arling of Amaranthine winds along the sinuous northeastern coast of Ferelden. The Waking Sea is known for its temper, and the storms that sweep in from the warmer northern waters are sudden and brutal. Rising above these turbulent waters is the city of Amaranthine--once a modest fishing village, now an important and prosperous port city and a center for trade in northern Ferelden.

You can read more about Amaranthine and see 3 new screenshots here: http://dragonage.bio...nt/amaranthine/

I like it a lot, IMO looks better than Denerim. But what about the strange grey fog? Smog?

I like it, but... it's not dark fantasy! It's all so nice, ordered and nice... and ordered... and... ehh... I mean, it's perfection! Where is the horse poo, the burning windmills and whatnot?

Still, I guess the fog is the result of being near a stormy zone. We'll see a lot of bad weather down ere (up)...

Chris, you're so damn Evil. I want to be in the world of Awakening right now. Ahhh... so let's pretend you're no longer an employee of Bioware. And I ask you this question: how kickass is the Awakening expansion pack? Your response is...

I really like the ambiance, and I sincerely hope that we'll have many quests set inside the city's walls, lot of intrigue and maybe lot of political meddling :)

blimey, my little Warden owns all of that? I was just expecting a rotting castle and a training yard... Not an actual living town.

Thanks Chris :)

And yes, only three screenshots. But don't forget the gameplay trailer video we've uploaded a few days ago featuring the city of Amaranthine.

Check it out here http://greywardens.com

Is this the area that has HighEver and good old Castle Cousland???? And if so, does the Human Noble get to return home and claim their rightful lands????

To each his own I guess. Personally, I have to say I love the layout of the city and the art.

I agree to a degree.. I mean it doesn't look terrible, but looks really similar to Denerim. But sometimes screenshots don't do justice so Ill wait to see it in full action.

It looks similar because it's a western european mediavel town sorrounded by big stone walls...

Hell, looks similar to the city in witcher, NwN2, Drakensang... well you get it.

The grey fog is likely to be sea mist.

Three tiny little houses under great big archway = mysterious.

Chicken hutches? Guard posts? A mini-alienage?

There is one floating around somewhere. Tried to find it, but no luck. I do remember it was fairly unimpressive. It was a small chunk of the map from Origins.
