It must be noted that this isn't the best argument to use in making a point of transgenus breeding.  Mainly because a square peg will go into a round hole if you use a big enough hammer. :P

Legit point. I just thought it curious that everyone in ME takes it for granted that the asari can have kids with whoever, and no-one's tried to play around with that fact. If they WERE real, there'd definitely be someone working on it.

Well, it could technically be possible for asari, I mean, apart from the whole mind connection thing, it's a little bit what bacterias do to reproduce...

That's cheating, like using magic.  You can make transgenus breeding work with magic.

I laugh every time some one makes one of these threads for a few reasons.

1) Most people assume its people who are Talimancers

2) Most try to argue how its impossible in plausable science now

3) Most forget that this is a game a story driven game if the Devs felt it would make the game better they would do it. Still not sure how it would make the game better but I don't get paid to make AAA video games.

I just pulled a name of a random alien female.  Aria would have been just as good an example.

No "right now" about.  Natural, unassisted by science breeding is possible past a certain point of ancestry.  Genetic manipulation makes it doable, but the canon in ME straight out states that such things are forbidden.

Yes, the Devs could just say srew it, but I highly doubt they will.  The Normandy doesn't need a friggen kid mascot.

They have trouble enough making NPC designs of female members of species, let alone cross-alien species!

Don't know what the hell is up with my post above. Forum must not like multi-quotes.

Don't get me wrong Lord Coake I'm not for it. Not sure it makes much context to the story and even if it did the only argument you could use for it is that it makes the story more personal and emotional but that’s kind of a stretch. As far was what the Codex says it also says the AI research is looked down on and is highly regulated. Also there is a significant difference between Illegal and impossible.

I bet if you begged Mordin Solus he would develop a way for cross species reproduction.

I greatly doubt that.  He had official authority to do his work with the Genophage, mixing DNA and essencially creating a new hybrid race -no matter how emotionally important it may be to his friends- would put a target on his head in every Citadel system, and proabably get a Spectre or three set on him to tring him in.

Either the Asari are doing SOMETHING with their mate, and non-asari can cross-reproduce based on that, or the asari don't make sense.

Isn't that how Krogan do it anyway?
-----------------

Anyway, why do you even need trans-species reproduction, me and Tali are planning on cloning each other and raising our clones as a brother-sister combo. ;)

Considering how hard it is to make two non-related species on this planet with shared evolutionary histories reproduce...how hard to you think it would be for two species with absolutely no common history to ever have even a chance at mutual procreation?

A lack of creativity on the part of character design might make you think "hey, that alien looks like a person. I should then be able to make another person with that person because he/she looks like me," but the unfortunate fact of the matter is that despite the cosmetic similarities that come from painting people green, blue, or purple and saying that they are from another world, two absolutely non-related species, even with a similar biochemistry, cannot interbreed (including the asari.  Bioware has sold you a pack of lies.  Entertaining lies, but lies none the less.)

Actually just read an article on this today and thought of the asari.

If cross species breeding were possible, what better way for the Quarians to get a functional immune system?
