The Quarians cultivated this 'new' idea of semi-intelligent robotic servants and mass produced them. Then, time travelling, space faring gnomes travelled into the future to Earth. Sneaky little bastards robbed an Earth video store because nothing good was on the extranet. During their trading with the Quarians they sold off some of the DVDs they had already watched. Two film series struck fear into the heart of each and every Quarian... fear that would lead them to attempt to destroy the Geth when they became sentient... these film were...

you realize the concept of machines revolting against us goes back to isaac asimov in the 1920's and probably farther back than that right?

I'm pretty sure they just watched every SciFi movie/show made since the 80s... narrowing it down to one film series was a bad choice
